From the OCC website (general info for non-members).

SSB Radio Nets - listen in

The OCC Med Net: on 8104 Wed and Fri at 06.00Z, Susie & David(Kookaburra), David & Julia (Daq Attack).

Nothing to stop you trying to join in I suppose.

I've been a member of the OCC for quite a few years now and happy to keep paying the subs.

Having travelled from the USA to Azores you should qualify to join.

Qualification

To become a Full Member of the OCC you have to have completed a non-stop ocean passage of at least 1000 nautical miles as skipper or member of the crew in a vessel under 70 ft (21.3m) LOA.

Alternatively you can join as an Associate Member. You need to have a serious interest in blue water cruising and intend to make a qualifying passage in the coming three years.

In either case you should be proposed by a Full Member of the OCC; an application will also be considered by the Committee if supported by a letter from some person of standing, such as a Flag Officer of a recognised Yacht Club, senior Naval Officer, Consular official, etc.

Whether you think the £50 joining fee & subsequent £55 annual subscription is worth it - only you can decide.

Have a browse of the OCC website - http://www.oceancruisingclub.org/
