Obstructions of Clacton Pier

Just sailed past Clacton pier.

There are now two unlit flagpoles sticking out of the water about a cable or two off the pier.

I crossed during the day, so could see them, but you may want to give the pier a very wide berth on a night crossing.

Ooo-er. Do you mean they are poles on fishing pots? Surely not sticking up from the sea bed?

Good question.

I am pretty sure that the poles are floating, but I don’t know what they are attached to, or why the poles are there.

I have seen plenty of lobster pots off the Naze tower, but can’t remember seeing lobster pots off Clacton.
