Objective criticism

I think we are all kidding ourselves about resale value.

One day people are going to ask themselves whether a fifteen year old boat with smokey, rusty old diesels, dated looks and worn out upholstery is really worth the same as a new, reliable import.

Certainly this was the choice I made many years ago, and I really looked at 'real boats' but it was no contest.

Ah. But with good old British boats, you just reupholster after ten of fifteen years, cos theres something to fasten it to. Where as with American thingies, it looks rough after only a few years and the things to fasten new stuff to, has fallen off as well..../forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Aha.But you may have noticed that even the USA car market is turning away from the slighty different new fins/more chrome syndrome every 6 mths to keep sales going. For the first time compact imports with their better build quality and longer lifetime periods have outsold homegrown products.Same with boats.
Pile em high and sell em cheap or build to last but pay for it.
suspect that all those smokey old heaps will be chugging around with their proud new owners at the helm 20 years from now.
Ps.did i mention about the aluminium fuel tank on my Regal which totally rotted out because it was resting on wet chipboard.Crikey use a american sports boat near the water what ever next.

The real problems with these boats of course occur years after. With the poor 5/6th owner. Who will be at the budget end of the market and will end up buying the thing and getting all the grief. I learned the hard way.
The fact is in this country it rains,it is damp.it gets cold.Florida it is not.

Nah. The American thingy I had, was trouble from the start. They'd glued the carpet down over the engine and everything else, and it leaked like a sive through every orifice. Not the bottom though.
