I have lugged my outboard around for years and rarely use it. Perhaps I should make a serious effort to row my Avon more efficiently. Any tips? My present racing blades are 5 foot long ....what length would be best to replace them with?

I have a pair of 5' 3" long aluminium oars for our Redcrest, and they seem to work quite well - much easier than putting the 2 hp. outboard on (havent used it for a couple of years).

I also have a pair of 6' 6" wooden oars, which I tried out on the Redcrest, but they were too long to have my wrists next to each other - one has to be above the other - and that got too confusing.

I'm with Bajansailor on this one- my 6ft oars are too long and I quickly get into a tangle. Yet my 5ft oars seem about right- so does it have to do with the rowers height perhaps- I'm around 5ft 9in.
