Oar Extensions?

I enjoy rowing out to my boat but I need 8 foot oars instead of my 6 foot oars.

Unfortunately, only 6 foot oars fit into the car. I would be grateful for any ideas on how I could extend them (preferable) or but new ones and split them somehow. I have seen long rubber dinghy oars that split,but the looms are too narrow for the massive power that I generate.

Adapt the inflatable idea ....... the Narwhal I had ..... had timber oars, not the ally or plastic you see on some.

The oars split into two equal lengths by having a female metal tube screwed onto one, a male metal tube on the other. The male tube was slid over the wood stub end of the oar. A sprung press button held the two together and stopped rotation of the blade end.

Adaption of this by taking suitable metal tube for your 8ft jobs and a pin through locking the joint ?

In fact I kept my old Narwhal ones when I broke one oar - pushing off from a mud bank a bit too brutally !!!! I do weigh about 100kgs !!!

Make some using some 3x3 timber, planed round and feathered down, with shaped plywood blades (edges reinforced with baton's). Nail in rope hoops and screw on some stainless supports for the rowlocks, apply paint in whatever colour comes to hand, then leave them with the dingy.
That’s what I did, and have had them for over 17 years. No self respecting T-leaf will nick them!
