On the unlikely chance a forum member can help me, I will ask on here, where the guys who do stuff post.

Recently had to give up the Ocean for the inland waterways. Bought a nice, good quality narrowboat, but need to get my woodwork guy to made a small addition to the dinette.

I need half a sheet of 12mm oak faced ply, with two good sides if possible. In fact, less than half a sheet, finished size will be forty three and a half inches by nineteen, grain lengthways.

Anyone help? I have a stall at the Haslar Jumble Sunday, could collect from that area.

Hoping for a positive response, thank you.

can't help with a supplier in your area but it will be cheaper to buy single sided oak faced in 6mm thick 4'x4' sheet cut in to two and laminate back to back than buying 12mm

Rotrax, you would not need marine ply on your new boat, so go to B&Q. Why not buy some plywood and fit oak veneers to both sides. The veneer will be thicker than any pre veneered plywood. You can buy straight veneer or pre glued on eBay. I have used the pre glued veneer before and all you need is a domestic iron to activate the glue.

I'd be inclined to use Engineered Flooring for this. You can buy different thicknesses of Oak, probably 6mm is appropriate to your needs. It comes in floor board sizes, so not in 4' wide sheets, but a competent joiner would make a neat and pleasing 19" wide board.

Don't buy the cheap stuff from Howdens, but it's available to very high quality - with a commensurate price!

Hmm, avoid B&Q - tends to be WAY MORE expensive than your local wood supplier, but on the Veneer side:

I have bought veneers from here for use on RC glider wings - great service.

I re-did my kitchen last yer and found actually that b&q was broadly equivalent to the local timber merchants for sheets of ply & I looked at a couple.

The other benefit is they have the massive wall saw cutting service and can rip a sheet into pretty accurate parts. I wouldn't automatically discount them

It needs to match the other end of the Dinette. So, good quality oak faced ply with mahogany trim. Like the rest of the boat. The interior is this boats crowning glory, so the right finish is a must. Thanks for the tip.
