O charts in Open CPN

While Navionics is my go to charting app, I thought I would install Open CPN on my Macbook Pro laptop to use as a backup. I then installed the British Isles chart set from O Charts. My problem is that there are so many depth markings that I find that it's going to be impossible to use these charts. I am obviously doing something wrong, and am reaching out for help. I have emailed O Charts so I expect they will get back to me in due course. I have also studied the Open CPN manual and made various adjustments as suggested. But thought someone on here might have had the same problem. Yes I know when you zoom in and out the charts change, and yes I know you can switch off the depth soundings. But I want to see the depths, but not so many of them. I have included a few screen shots.

In the chart options tab you can set the level of detail that you prefer for various zoom settings, though I'm a bit puzzled by your screenshots as they have little detail apart from the depths. I think the manual will give you a better idea of what you can do.
