After completing our gas installation yesterday, I sat down and watched the latest installment from Magnus & Wendy only to see they had a gas explosion on board their boat Nutshell! Magnus was so lucky, so much destruction, so sad.
My brother-in-law is a Corgi fitter so I had him do it for me, but I'm still going to look for gas detector/alarm now!

I fitted a gas detector/alarm with an electronic shut off at the bottle. Haztec brand. I'm pretty relaxed about most things, but a tyrant about gas. When my wife came to live on board one of my two frequent lectures was along the lines of 'the gas is the most dangerous thing on this boat. It's always looking for a way to kill us.'

My other lecture was 'clip on when on deck. If you fall in, I give myself a 50:50 chance of getting you back alive. And make sure I clip on cos you've got next to no chance of getting me back alive.' In all other regards I'm a pretty laid back sailor!
