Numpty Navionics on ipad question (not GPS related)

Can anyone explain what the 'water level' setting does. Mine is set to 2m and a little warning sign flashes up to remind me of the fact as it starts up.

I have tried altering the setting but nothing much changes.

Not at all important, just curious.

It changes the depths with tide. So instead of chart datum you can see the depth with the tide added or subtracted.
You can see the contours change as you move the slider.
Best left to zero I think.

Thank you. I agree, best set to zero, chart datum makes sense to me! Maybe the software is a bit too clever for its own good perhaps. Thank you.
