The fine was €10,000 for not having a Spanish Skippers Qualification.
Do you need a Spanish skipper's licence even to helm, or do they not understand the concept of a skipper.

Glad I'm going to be out of there in a week or so, the med coast of Spain is the worst cruising ground I've ever seen, why are they so intent of driving people away? Although saying that I'm sure they'll be enough Daily Mail readers left to pay their fines and extortionate marina costs.

Some questions:
1) When did you receive the notification of the fine ???
2) What law or regulation is quoted in the notification as having been broken ???
3) Who exactly fined you or notified you of an impending fine ?? By what means, where and when ???
4) In which dock were you wakeboarding ??? Some are more sensitive than others !!!! Some have restrictions in place, others don't, some are military areas, others just plain commercial. Fines differ !!!
5) Did you say anything or have any contact with those who have fined or notified you of a fine ???
6) On what date did the incident occur ???

Please keep answers short and sweet, if you can.

Am I missing something here ? What on earth is "wakeboarding" ? As an aside were you aware of the speed restriction ? Was there a sign or is it quoted in sailing directions anywhere e.g Reeds etc

Wakeboarding is like waterskiing but on a single board, bit tricky at 7 knots, normally done at 20 knots upwards!

In order for a fine to be valid, the notification must either be handed over on the spot or sent to your home or business address within the 30 days following the alleged offence, by registered mail. The notification must state, amongst other things, the time and date of the alleged infraction, the issuing person, the affected persons ID and the precise infraction allegedly commited.

The docks in question, are they the ones near the bridge, or the ones just beside Puerto America ???

I would put the matter in the hands of a good lawyer and quibble both the reason for and the amount of the fine. If the boats insurance policy provides legal cover, use it.

Can the owner of the boat take any action to resolve the problem ??? Or has he washed his hands ???

so was my swibo, she has been trying to learn a bit of mexican from this guy and he has let her down. I am not even convinced he is from greece - is 'Taki' a greek name? Sounds a bit welsh to me.
So how do you lot know my mate Taki....didn't mention him on any posts.

Living abroad exposes one to all kinds of people who in the normal run of things you would not meet, certainly a Mexican passing himself off as a Greek window cleaner makes for an interesting day.

No, he is greek. swimbo has met his sister and she says that he like to talk mexican to her friends from alicanti.

I slept on the sofa with the dog last night as I told swimbo that taki was welsh. she nearly killed me and said he was very nice and had lots of friends killed by us in the war in eoka.

Where is eoka! I dunno but I coudnt ask her -she probably dont know anyway.
