Now this weekend is looking good....

I have also found recently that the met office forcasts are far from true, I nearly abandoned a trip a few weeks ago as they were forcasting F7 mod-rough and it turned out to be F3 smooth, I use XC as the live results are good but their forcasts can also be a bit out.

my fault I guess aquapower & scubadoo... did exactly that last year, started putting oak flooring, doors etc in place upstairs and down, then bought the new boat and it 'had' to be fettled with of course during the winter ready for the new season so diy got shelved ('scuse the pun)... got the landing balustrade to finish, a bit of flooring to complete up the stairs and need to move the gas meter.... I'm on a hiding to nothing I reckon.

Hope those lucky enough to get out on the water have a fab time:cool:

Okay, plan B then, as you know there will always be a weekend when the weather is poor in the summer (just look back at the last few months), get those DIY jobs done then and get out on the water when it is good. That also works for me. Of course you know all this, you just need to resist the temptation to fiddle with the boat on those bad weather days.

....anyone going anywhere exciting?

We are off to Cowes this weekend for what feels like the first real trip this year!

Can't wait! :D

Yup, we're hoping to do Teignmouth to Dartmouth Sunday. Will keep a lookout for you guys doing similar trip! :) A friend of mine is moored on the Dart and at least one other is coming down for the weekend (hopefully two) so keep watch for a pod of Fletchers...

We've done a few river trips this year, but little coastal due to work, weather and family commitments so really looking forward to Sunday.

The weather in Torbay is fantastic at the moment so hoping it holds up over the weekend.

Looks like there should be some trip reports to read next week :D:D:D

Gary, get someone in if you've got any money left lol

Two weekends ago the met forecast for the Solent area was 11 knots. At the same time Solent coastguard were issuing warning not to venture forth. Bramblemet was showing 27-30 knot winds, until of course somebody side swiped it.
I have noticed also that most "normal BBC weather" forecasts do not include wind speed or direction but often include UV readings - bizarre

Hi new to this site.

Ive been watching the weather now for 1 mounth and every nice bit of weather has happend when ive been on shift working,

We are down to torquay tomorrow (frriday)with our two young children to chill out around the bay and get them used to being on the boat.

May be brixham or coast hopeing tomorrow in our wellcraft 20 excel, as working over the weekend, realy realy hoping that the weather stays good for tomorrow. weve started going down to torquay now has weymouth has outpriced itself with us, ospray key at portland can no longer rip us off just to use a slip way, same we cant use the town slip but parking a landy is difficult at the best of times, comeing from bridgwater torquay is straight and easy.

Hope you all have a sunny hot weekend.

Hi Mark,

Torbay will charge for slipway too and parking is expensive (£7/day for car and £5 for trailer on quayside). Slipway fees are per meter about £15 I think for yours, but check. Of course at Brixham, if you get there early and launch before the attendant arrives... :o Alternatively, if you launch/recover daily, consider Teignmouth where the slipway at Polly Steps (past dockyard) is free. You'll pay about a tenner a day for parking (total) and should register the boat with HM, but that's only a tenner a year - so not excessive for ulimited use of slipway. Registration is simple but you need insurance policy number. Beware of tide/current across slipway too.

I'm out Sunday morning (Aging 14' Blue Fletcher) - give us a wave if you spot us and have a great weekend... :D

Just got back from one very hot day at the helm in torquay, arrived at 10-00 and found no trim on leg working, after 40 mins of working fault out, turns out no 12v to pump ahh blown fuse 50amp had to drive to halfords as local places dont stock fuse.

Managed to get boat in the sea at 12-00, sea state flat with a ripple but as the day prgressed it choped up a bit. had dinner at elbery cove and a wee walk about at brixham. but comeing back over to torquay early evening the middle of the bay had quite lumpy swells, which the kids did not like at cruiseing speed.

after cleaning boat talking to some locals, a nice harvester meal, the bay at 19-00 was flat and very inviteing for us to return back to the water, but kids shatterd. got home tonight at 21-30

Hope you all have a good weeked im back to work tomorrow, after the stress at the start it turned out to be a very good boating day.

Might finally get out for the first time this year. SWIMBO had back surgery earleir in the year so we have been tied to the pontoon for a long time.

Might head for Cowes.

D

swmbo has organised a "sleep over" for the 7-yr old on land, starting 4.30pm on Saturday until 11am Sunday, requiring drop off and collection.

Choices:
1.) Motor across to Guernsey, and not come back
2.) Drink far too much and go nowhere

We went over to Cowes, very slow trip over as so calm. I got well and truly burnt to a frazzle as didn't feel that warm when leaving Chichester.

We didn't go out yesterday on the boat but came back this morning via a very busy Solent. Very calm at sea but because of the number of boats in the harbour it felt quite choppy!

Out again tomorrow to just hang around East Head. Got to make the most of the good weather. :D

...I got well and truly burnt to a frazzle as didn't feel that warm when leaving Chichester...

:D:D:D Ditto! :o Went out with a friend yesterday on his 19' Sportcruiser and got fried! Legs so burnt they've swollen up :eek (never achieved that before!)

Learned lesson today when we took our 14 out from Teignmouth to Brixham and bathed in factor 50 beforehand! Great weather however - fingers crossed next weekend will be too...
