Part 1. The stainless frame!

Box sections through the transom and bolted through the hull sides.

With backing strips on the outside.

Plus a box section across the outside of the transom, also bolted through. (See top pic')

More to follow as work progresses.

A good question. Firstly, the holes are well above the water-line. I have today filled the apertures with thickened West Epoxy. The whole frame will subsequently be closed in with internally sheathed ply externally covered with bi-axial cloth and more West epoxy. So two lines of defence.

It's 304 as it's above the water-line and will be fully encapsulated. I will be making small side "wings" that blend into the hull sides with an additional rubbing band around the platform so it looks like part of the boat. As there is some interest I'll put up another pic once there some more progress.

Do you plan on polishing the 304 or leave it natural

None of it will be seen, the whole lot will be covered in sheathed and epoxied ply. The deck area will be covered with Deck-King to match the cockpit and the outsides will be painted to match the boat's colours.

This weeks update.
4mm ply epoxied to hull with foam sheet to bring it out to align with hull.

Outside plate also covered with foam sheet.

I decided the "wings" were too insignificant so tried increasing the size.

Still not happy so finalised design at this.

Installing the 18mm ply deck tomorrow.

This is an epic job. Not something that many would contemplate I would think. Very interesting though.
I agree an epic job, not a shy platform in anyway. Get three guys standing on the back of it you’d be able to antifoul the bow.
I’m in the middle of a modest engineering upgrade, it’s not easy, my hat off to PCUK?⚓️?
