Novice - Inherited a Bavaria 300 Sport - Where do I start?

Get to know someone (e.g. Powerskipper ?) who can give you a day or two out under tuition.

I can't recommend this strongly enough. My son and my daughters fella did the weekend course at the Sealine Sea School using the school boat (similar to mine) and when they came out to my boat (in the Med) they were confident, careful and expert. I would now happily (well nearly!) let them use the boat without me. Also they end up with an ICC qualification which is required in the Med.
Because you're in the UK you could be "schooled" using your own boat of course.
best of luck welcome to the forum.

Hi Steve,

Wow are you gonna be impressed, the 300 with 220 Mercs is really going to fly! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Although you've posted as a novice, you've asked more sensible questions than most, well done. If you take the advice given here, you'll be fine.

I had the same Mercs in my 330 and they are great. The the manuals from BMB are not too good and often in German. It does make a big point about it being very powerful and only to be driven by experienced handlers. Well, the tuition part of the advice above will cover that. These boats are a doddle, but I hasten to add, it will take some practice, having been taught by someone who knows how to.

My previous boat 'Raz Ma Taz' (BMB330) is still at Hayling (in Northney) and the new owner is friend of mine, he also needs a re-cap on what knobs and switches do. If you need some help here, either Jez or myself won't be far away.

Good luck and enjoy.

Just a quick update ... bought some flares / lifejackets / throwing line / torch / and a ton of other stuff.

Solitare brought the boat over to Hayling, thank you Sir, and we are in the process of lining up some Education with the boys at Mendez Marine.
