UKHO Permanent/Temporary/Preliminary
1. ENGLAND - East Coast - Foul. - New FOUL close in shore north of the entrance into Shotley Marina.
2. ENGLAND - East Coast - Depths. - This preliminary Notice is a continuation of the (almost weekly) series of preliminary notices advising reduced depths from Winterton Ness to Benacre Ness. This notice adds 5 further reduced depths on the eastern side of the Scroby sands. The image should be seen in conjunction with the image of last week vide NtM 5069(P).
3. ENGLAND - East Coast - NM Blocks. - The UKHO has issued two UKHO block covering the area of the Lowestoft Inner Harbour showing the new Gull Wing Bridge; one for the SNC and one for the relevant SCC.
4. ENGLAND - East Coast - Obstruction. - A new ‘obstn’ (at 2.9m) reported a little due west of the wreck of the SS Montgomery.
5. FRANCE - North Coast - Depths. - Three reduction of depth close east and south-east of the Calais Approach west cardinal buoy. Ample water for leisure craft.
6. ENGLAND - East Coast - Depths. - This notice reports three reductions of depths close to the SW Barrow west cardinal buoy. We had an earlier Notice this year (1608) in week 15 and this notice amends some of those reductions. The message is that it is not good to cut inside the cardinal buoy to or from the West Swin without due regard.
7. FRANCE - North Coast - Pilot boarding place. - A new Pilot Boarding Place for LPG bulk carriers in the Dunkerque Waiting Area. The location is adjacent to routes we might use between the East Goodwins and Calais.

1. Thames Estuary - Thames Estuary - Neuconnect Cable Lay Works - This notice is repeating the earlier notice. There is cable laying occuring at 0.06kts from Sheppey out along the Knock John and Black Deep to the Sunk Precautionary Zone. Image and details at Notices to Mariners in the local list.
2. Harwich Harbour - Withdrawal of Seasonal Recreational Marks - In the week commencing 04 November 2024, the following seasonal recreational marks will be withdrawn: Pennyhole, Yellow Cone Buoy; Cork Ledge Racing Mark, Yellow Can Buoy; Armada Racing Mark,
Yellow Can Buoy; Fox’s, Yellow Conical Buoy; Cobbolds Point Buoy, Green Conical Buoy; Dovercourt Bay, Yellow Spherical Buoys (6); Shotley Horse, Yellow Pillar Buoy; Speed Limit Marker Buoy, Yellow Spherical Buoy; Beacon Hill, Yellow Can Buoy. Details of the exact position of removal can be seen in the Local list.
3. Harwich Harbour - Permanent Change of Status - Harwich Shelf Buoy - The Harwich Shelf East Cardinal buoy, previously designated as seasonal (March to November), is now a permanent mark and will remain on station year-round. Harwich Shelf - East Cardinal Buoy

4. Harwich Harbour - Dredging and Survey Operations - are taking place as follows:
➢ Shoalway (IMO: 9556337) - on or around 29 October 2024 – will commence dredging operations in the Harwich Deep Water Channel and Harbour for approx 4 weeks.
➢ Freeway (IMO: 9691682) - on or around 31 October 2024 – will commence dredging in the Harwich Deep Water Channel and Harbour for approx. 3 weeks.
➢ C-Force (IMO: 9850305) - on or around 28 October 2024 – will commence dredging operations in Harwich Deep Water Channel and Harbour for approx. 6 weeks.
➢ Patriot (IMO: 9845245) - on or around 03 November 2024 - will be carrying out survey operations in the Harwich Deep Water Channel and Harbour for approx. 7 weeks.
➢ Maverick – on or around 04 November 2024 – will be carrying out water injection dredging operations for approx. 7 days in the following areas:
o Halfpenny Pier
o Harbour Master’s Pier
o Fishermen’s moorings
o Shotley Channel
o Lifeboat Mooring
5. Medway Marine Communication update - as of Monday 4th November 2024, a new communication system will be implemented for contacting the Medway Marine Operations Department via email and telephone. There is a breakdown of the new communication methods along with guidance on when to use each which you can see in the Local List in the above quoted webpage.
6. Ipswich - Lock Closure Fender Repairs - lock usage will be restricted for fender repairs inside the lock. The lock will be closed between the hours of:
0800 - 1630 from Monday 11th November to Thursday 14th November.
Outside of these hours the lock will be open with regular service. This notice is self-cancelling 1800 Thursday 14th November. Mariners requiring further information should do so by contacting ONS on VHF Ch68.
7. Kings Lynn Dredging - dredging operations will be taking place between: - Tuesday 29th October – Wednesday 6th November. Dredging operations will take place on the Riverside Quay and inside the enclosed docks. The dredger undertaking the works is the Cherry Sand.
Mariners are advised to always pass slowly and cautiously. A listening watch on VHF Ch14 will be maintained throughout operations.
8. Approaches to the Wash – Hydrographic Survey Operations – SV Investigator - survey vessel “Investigator” will perform marine survey operations between; - 53°10'5.38"N, 000°22'53.11"E and 52°54'18.70"N, 000°20'19.87"E. Survey Vessel “Investigator” will be engaged in Survey activities to include towing Sonar equipment circa 30m astern of the vessel. At this time the vessel will Restricted in ability to Manoeuvre due to towed equipment. The duration and occasion of the towed operation will vary dependent on conditions and other factors such as survey progress. Survey operations are expected to commence on 04.11.24 with scheduled completion by 06.12.24, depending on weather conditions. Dates may be subject to change. The vessel when operational will display appropriate day shapes & lights during survey operations and will actively transmit an AIS signal. A wide berth is requested at all times as the vessel will be restricted in her ability to manoeuvre. Contact details for the vessel are:- SV Investigator/ Call Sign MPHN7/ MMSI 235065331. The vessel will maintain a listening watch on VHF16 and can be contacted to establish comms and confirm movements within the survey area.
9. Sizewell C - Temporary Buoy - has been deployed within the Harbour Authority area to mark ground tackle. The mark consists of a Danbuoy with dark coloured flag and a tide pellet buoy, attached to a ground anchor.
The chartlet in the local list indicates the approximate position of the temporary buoy at the following co-ordinates. Latitude: 52° 13.143660 N Longitude: 001° 37.839360 E. Other vessels should maintain an appropriate and safe distance when passing the location.

Mariners are advised that the survey vessel MV Titan Endeavour (Callsign: 2ELT9) will be
undertaking survey operations in Harwich Deep Water Channel between the Beach End and South
Threshold from around 05 November 2024 until approximately 18 November 2024.
