UKHO and Trinity House Permanent Notices to Mariners
1. ENGLAND - East Coast - Depths. - The continual and relentless movement of sands to the north-east in the Estuary. One reduction of depth at the Long Sand Head. The image includes previous reductions of depth vide NtM 297 of this year and 4883 of 2020.
2. ENGLAND - East Coast - Light-beacons. - Correction of the position of the lit beacon on the eastern end of Bridgemarsh Island (ADA Point), River Crouch.

3. East Coast of England - Caister Shoal - N. Caister Lighted Buoy - Trinity House have moved the N. Caister port hand buoy very slightly to the east; so slightly that I cannot illustrate the move at the scale of 1:125,000!

1. GRAVESEND REACH TO MOUSE CHANNEL - THAMES SAILING BARGE MATCH - the Thames Sailing Barge Match will take place on Saturday 14th August 2021. Participating vessels are expected to assemble in Gravesend Reach, then proceed outward to the starting line in Lower Hope Reach at Mucking No. 3 Buoy, with the competitors to start in groups between 0800 - 0830. The race, comprising 9 sailing barges and associated race official & escort craft, will then proceed outward to the North Oaze Buoy, where they will turn about and return to Gravesend for the finish of the race. This intended route may be shortened or otherwise modified on the day, according to the prevailing weather conditions. The following 9 sailing barges are expected to compete, several of which are equipped with AIS transponders: - CAMBRIA, LADY DAPHNE, NIAGARA, IRONSIDES, REPERTOR, EDITH MAY, ADIEU, BLUE MERMAID, MARJORIE. All participating vessels are expected to comply with local regulations and the International Regulations for the Prevention of Collisions at Sea 1972 (as amended). GRAVESEND REACH - TILBURY CARGO JETTY - FOOTBRIDGE REMOVAL - On or about Monday 23rd August 2021 contractors working on behalf of the Port of Tilbury will commence removal of a disused footbridge and supporting structure from Tilbury Cargo Jetty. The works will be undertaken between approximately 0600 and 1630, Monday to Friday, and are expected to take up to one month to complete. The chartlet below indicates the approximate footprint of the marine operations:
The works will include cutting, heavy lifting operations and operatives working on the water line using a variety of crane barges, pontoons, tugs and support vessels. London VTS will broadcast requests for vessels to “Proceed at Slow Speed” or” Proceed with Caution” as required by the works. International Code Flags “Romeo Yankee” will be displayed in accordance with General Direction 18. Port wide Notice to Mariners 8 of 2021 refers. Further details will be broadcast by London VTS on VHF Channel 68.
3. Harwich - Maintenance Dredging - the survey vessel ‘Porthos’ (11.4m LOA) will be undertaking hydrographic survey operations within the Haven from the 5th of August 2021 to 01st of September 2021. The work boat ‘Forth Drummer’ (26m LOA) will undertake plough dredging within the Haven from the 15th of August 2021 to the 30th of August 2021. The trailer suction hopper dredger ‘Shoalway’ (90m LOA) will be undertaking dredging operations within the Haven from the 12th of August 2021 to the 01st of September 2021. Detailed movements can be obtained from Harwich VTS on VHF Channel 71. Dates are approximate and subject to alteration.
4. Bit late - Lowestoft Bascule Bridge Overnight Marine Closures – New Dates - due to unforeseen circumstances, the remaining Bascule Bridge maintenance works (as detailed in NTM No.31a), are now scheduled to be undertaken on Lowestoft Bascule Bridge from Saturday 7th August until Tuesday 10th August. This will result in overnight marine closures. The closures will be effective from 2000hrs until 0600hrs on the following day. Full restriction details are as follows:--
Night Closures Saturday 8th through to Monday 9th
• Road Closed to vehicles and pedestrians
• No commercial openings.
• No small boat openings.
Tuesday 10th night
• Contingency Date. If required then the restrictions are likely to mirror those as above.
Every attempt will be made to accommodate vessel requirements, including temporary allocation of berths in the Outer Harbour area. Agents, Owners and Vessel masters are advised to bear these closures in mind when planning vessel movements in or out of the Port of Lowestoft. 5. King’s Lynn Harbour - River Great Ouse – A47 Bridge Inspections & Cleaning - inspections and cleaning operations are to be carried out on the A47 Bridge that crosses the River Great Ouse at King’s Lynn on the following dates and times.
• W/C 13-09-21 at 2000hrs until 02-10-21 at 0500hrs. • Works to be carried out daily between 2000hrs & 0500hrs. An under-bridge work platform will be deployed for these operations which will be fully illuminated and can be manoeuvred to allow emergency river passage if required. A dedicated safety vessel “SBS Surveyor” will be on the river at all times to maintain a safe watch for any marine traffic. SBS Surveyor can be contacted on VHF CH 14 & 16. Mariners are requested to navigate with caution in the vicinity when these operations are underway.
6. River Nene - Buoy Moves - following buoy moves within the Nene Ports area of
jurisdiction. Below are the new positions.
