7. Diving Operations – Port of Felixstowe – Update 1 -
Diving operations taking place at the Port of Felixstowe, are now extended to include all berths until approx. 02 June 2025. These operations will be phased in stages depending on berth availability and divers will display the Alpha flag to indicate their area of operation, mariners are requested to keep well clear and pass at slow speed. For more information contact Harwich VTS on VHF 71.

8. Surveyed Depths – Halfpenny Pier, Harwich – Update 1 - See hydrographic survey extract below for latest depths at Ha’penny Pier and approaches: Surveyed 28 April and 01 May 2025. Downlaod in the Local List.

9. River Medway – Gillingham - Commodores Hard Slipway – Gate Closures. the public access gate to Commodores Hard slipway at Gillingham Strand will closed over the following weekends. River users seeking launch facilities should look for suitable alternatives. In case of an emergency, the gate can be opened by either of the adjacent leisure clubs who are in possession of the code.

10. River Medway – Saltpan Reach - BP Isle of Grain Jetty No.1 – Dredging Operations. - due to delays, dredging operations are now due to commence at BP Isle of Grain Jetty No.1 on or around 22nd May 2025 with a projected completion date of 20th June 2025. All dredging will be carried out by the water injection dredger ‘Maas’ who will maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 74 at all times and display the required signals for respective operations by day and night. All vessels passing Isle of Grain Jetty No.1 during the dredging period are requested to navigate with caution reducing speed and wash accordingly.

11. The Swale – Loden Hope – Washer Wharf - Moored Pontoon & Narrowed Channel - a pontoon which has been temporarily secured at Washer Wharf is restricting available sea room in the main navigable channel of Loden Hope. The pontoon measures approximately 72m x 30m and is laying alongside the wharf, due to it’s size, available sea room is compromised. Until an alternative location is found for the pontoon, it’s outboard extremities will be marked with an upstream and downstream fixed yellow light and fixed white light in the centre. All vessels passing Washer Wharf should navigate with caution. (Image and chartlet in the Local List).

12. Sheerness Docks - No. 4 Berth Extension Project - work on the Sheerness Docks, No. 4 berth extension project is ongoing with the new pontoon now in it’s final position. The crane barge Skylift 3 is currently positioned alongside SD.7, adjacent to the pontoon as seen in the images. Mariners should be aware that the new pontoon protrudes into the harbour further than the crane barge and is currently unlit. The crane barges “Skylift 2” and “Skylift 3”, assisted by tug “Feije” and safety/transfer boat “WSB Recover” will be on site for the remainder of the work and will maintain a continuous listening watch on VHF Channel 74 at all times. All vessels transiting and manoeuvring within Sheerness Harbour should be aware of new pontoon’s presence, associated ongoing work and navigate with caution.

13. Chatham Docks Re-opening Update. - By way of advanced notice, please be advised that the repairs to the North Lock – outer caisson in Chatham Docks is nearing completion, with the sign off expected during the course of next week, and an operational opening date to be confirmed thereafter. Update to follow next week.

14. Diving Operations at Great Yarmouth Power Station River Intake - survey and maintenance works will be conducted on the power station river intakes between berths 5C and 6 (Port Marks 91 – 96) within the Great Yarmouth River Port for two weeks between Monday 09th June and Friday 20th June 2025. The works will include diving operations undertaken by Red7 Inshore Diving Ltd between the hours of 0700 hours and 1800 hours Mon-Fri. Divers will be working from the quay face and within the power station intakes using underwater tools and equipment. The International Code flag ‘A’ will be exhibited when dive operations are taking place and red flags will be exhibited marking the extremities of the works. Masters must obtain information from Yarmouth Radio on VHF Channel 12 before approaching or departing from these berths and before any movement or operation of engines or thrusters close to or adjacent to these berths when diving operations are taking place. Masters are advised to exercise extreme caution when approaching or passing the dive site, to keep well clear of the works area and to pass at the slowest safe manoeuvring speed. Swinging of vessels will not be permitted anywhere within the works area mentioned above. 15. PORT OF GREAT YARMOUTH - Breydon Bridge – Operational - Breydon Bridge is reinstated as fully operational and able to lift for all vessels on booking request. Mariners are reminded to maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 12 at all times whilst within the Port of Great Yarmouth and to advise ‘Yarmouth Radio’ of their intention to conduct any manoeuvre within the Port prior to doing so. 16. Dover Harbour - Western entrance wreck charted depth and dive survey - Change in Charted Depth – Western Entrance Wreck and Dive survey - following a recent hydrographic survey conducted within the Port of Dover Western Entrance, a reduction in depth has been identified in the vicinity of the known wreck obstruction. Position: 51°06'51"N 1°19'43"E. The latest survey data indicates a least depth over the obstruction of 7.1 metres below Chart Datum, which is a change from previously charted values. The area remains unmarked and should be navigated with caution. A dive inspection is planned to confirm the nature and extent of the obstruction and assess whether any changes to existing charted information or navigational warnings are required. During the dive inspection, which will take place on Wednesday 28th May 2025, the Western Entrance will be closed to fe rry traffic and all mariners are to pass at a safe distance and slow speed taking instruction from VTS. Mariners are otherwise to navigate with caution in the area and ensure that their Under Keel Clearance (UKC) is calculated accordingly(!) 17. Ipswich Beacon Marina renovations -renovation works will be conducted within Ipswich Beacon Marina. These works will be conducted under- Marine Licence: L/2024/00516/1 Please be advised of the scheduled commencement of the Licensed Activities on or just after May 27, 2025.
Activity 1.1: Removal of existing Marine Infrastructure within Ipswich Beacon Marina. Activity 1.2: Installation of Replacement Pontoons, including piling. The time taken to complete the licensed activities is expected to be up to two months. The duration of piling works is anticipated to be 5 days.
