1. Stow Creek, River Crouch (entrance to Fambridge Yacht Harbour), two new leading lights (fixed) installed. Image on the web site might be useful for those visiting.
2. Fisherman's Gat - the Yellow special mark by the No 1 starboard hand buoy has been removed.
3. Calais - new yellow special mark installed to the east of Calais - quite convenient to mark the shoals to the east of the harbour entrance - image on web site of course.

Temporary

1. The PLA have repeated the Trinity House NtM about the move of the Barrow No 12 and Oaze Bank buoys and the installation of the Alice Danger buoy. All started on the 16th.
2. Crouch Harbourmaster - The new buoyage in the Roach at Sutton Wharf approach is listed.
3. Crouch Harbourmaster - A couple of the sailing marks in the Roach have been repositioned because of the breaking of the Wallesea Seawall.
4. Crouch Harbourmaster - The Fairway No 15 is now called 'Croshaw 15'.


That's the official stuff and now a warning before a warning - TG 1 of 2015 you could say! This starboard hand buoy was rescued on the tide in Collier's Reach, River Blackwater today by Clint Swan of CRS Marine. I think it is the starboard buoy from the North Doubles although how that managed to get to Collier's Reach with the wind in the direction it was today beats me. So somewhere in the Blackwater there be a green buoy missing.

Sure could be. I am trying to recall which of the North Double or Doctor had the post sticking out of the top. I'll see if Clint is around this morning to ask.

Actually, come to think about it (and referring to page 84 of ECP4), it looks like the Bradwell Creek starboard hand buoy.

3. Crouch Harbourmaster - A couple of the sailing marks in the Roach have been repositioned because of the breaking of the Wallesea Seawall.

One of the Wallasea breaches is in Quay Reach? Do we know how far from say.... Branklet and will it affect the anchorage on that side?

I am afraid I cannot say whether it will affect the anchorage. I have read nothing about changing the anchorage but whether it will remain viable is another question.

Actually having plotted the racing mark moves, you might think that the one affecting Jubilee is not the best for the anchorage:

And in theory I should be going past the North Doubles and the Doctor on Thursday. I seem to recall that both those have a black sort of surround at the waterline which this doesn't.

I was looking at my 1989 edition of East Coast Rivers, yesterday on board and noticed the front cover promised 'New Crouch Buoyage', so I feel I must be up to date.

Actually having plotted the racing mark moves, you might think that the one affecting Jubilee is not the best for the anchorage:

I noticed those changes last weekend. I don't think we will know how the breaches will affect the anchorages until the actual holes are made and the tides start flowing into Wallasea. At the moment they have only dug out the entrance channels. I did find a hummock near the Devil's Reach cut [near Wade mark], but I was close in to the North bank cheating the tide.
At a RSPB meeting about this scheme we were assured that it won't affect navigation at all. We shall see.
