Local

1. Lowestoft Southern Approaches – Temporary Buoy Marking Subsea Cable Position -
the 2 special marks deployed at a section of subsea cable off Pakefield detailed in the previous NTM No. 21, have now been replaced with a single orange marker buoy which is unlit. The guard vessels Shannon and CRC Loadstar are currently in the vicinity guarding the submerged cable position. The buoy is positioned as indicated on the chart (see the Local List in the above quoted web page). This marks the termination point of the subsea cable section from Pakefield beach. The buoy will remain in position until the cable burial operations have been completed (currently scheduled for mid to late June). Further survey operations may also be scheduled for this vicinity. As this buoy is close to the entrance of the Stanford Channel, Mariners are requested to consider its position when navigating in this area, and to afford the buoy, and guard vessels or survey vessels, a wide berth if safe and practical to do so.
2. LOWESTOFT APPROACHES – ‘TWIN’ BUOYS – SOUTH CARDINAL BUOY WITHOUT TOP MARK - the South Cardinal Twin (or Sewer) Buoy, position 52˚28.84’N, 001˚ 46.25’E, currently has no top mark. The top mark has been damaged for some time, but has recently been removed. It is scheduled to be replaced ASAP. The buoy remains lit and is otherwise marked correctly (see photograph in the Local List). Mariners are requested to navigate with caution in the approaches to Lowestoft.
A notice will be promulgated to advise when the top mark is re-instated.
3. Crouch Harbour Authority - Polite Notice - INFORMATION - Following several reports of inappropriate and improper mooring. Mariners are courteously reminded that: • Except for emergency purposes anchoring in the Fairway or Main Channel on the Rivers Crouch and Roach is prohibited. Whilst at anchor all vessels must display the appropriate day and night-time signals. Mooring to Navigation buoys and marks including racing markers is forbidden. Who has been naughty?:devilish:
4. North Quern cardinal buoy (51°18.2640’N 001°23.9267’E) is now back on station.

That's it.
