1. New Editions of ADMIRALTY Small Craft Charts published 19 May 2022 - Chart 5605.12
Chichester to Ramsgate and Calais to Oostende, Ports in France and Belgium. A France – North Coast, Calais. 1:15,000, B France – North Coast, Gravelines. 1:20,000, C France – North Coast, Dunkerque. 1:20,000, D Belgium, Nieuwpoort. 1:20,000, E Belgium, Oostende. 1:15,000
2. ENGLAND - East Coast - Buoy. - This notice reports a move south of the NW Holm starboard hand buoy in the Corton Road north of Lowestoft. This move was earlier notified of this move by Trinity House (in Week 8).
3. ENGLAND - East Coast - Depth. - One new depth in the channel of the River Thames, Northfleet Hope. At just over 10 metres CD unlikely to hinder leisure craft.
4. ENGLAND - East Coast - Depths. Wreck. - 5 changes of depth around the Sunk Inner and Dynamo area. This is an area of frequent survey for the DW Channel. Slight changes have occurred several times this year already but all this is unlikely to hinder leisure craft. The notice includes a reduction of depth over a wreck (the Dynamo?) close to the Dynamo Yellow Special buoy. At 16.7m CD unlikely to trouble leisure craft.

1. Harwich Harbour approaches - Temporary Buoy Moves -
on 05 May 2022 the deep water channel buoys nos. 1 to 8 will be moved to temporary new locations to allow the channel deepening works to proceed. The buoys will be moved by the HHA vessel Haven Hornbill. Channel buoys No. 3 – 8 will be moved about 500m in an easterly direction to temporary locations on the existing channel toe-line. No. 1 buoy will be moved 50m North of its current location. No.2 buoy will be moved 50m south of its current location. The layout of the buoys is shown on the sketch (see the Local List on Notices to Mariners). See the notice on the Local List for Lat/Long details.
The buoys will be moved back to their designated positions once the dredging is completed. A separate Notice to Mariners will be issued when the buoys are relocated. Ultra Large Vessels - In addition to the operational procedures in place for the transit of and berthing of ultra large container vessels of between 310 and 395m (HHA Information to Masters and PEC Holders – 22.3 Ultra Large Vessels), the transit of ultra large vessels of greater than 395m LOA shall not be impeded by any
other vessel between No. 1 & 2 buoys to the berth, both inwards and outwards.
2. RIVER MEDWAY – MEDWAY APPROACH CHANNEL - SS RICHARD MONTGOMERY WRECK SURVEY - EGS International Ltd. will be undertaking, on behalf of the MCA and Receiver of Wreck, a detailed sonar survey of the SS Richard Montgomery wreck and have obtained permission to enter the prohibited area. Marine operations will be running from around the 16th May 2022 with expected completion by the 22nd May 2022 (weather dependant). All survey work will be carried out by the EGS Watchful (callsign MAQK4; MMSI 232006596; fitted with AIS Class A) who will be keeping a listening watch on VHF Channels 16 & 74. 3. River Medway - Saltpan Reach - Grain LNG Jetties - Dredging Operations - dredging operations are due to take place at Grain LNG Jetties 8 and 10, dredging will commence on or around 23/05/2022 and is expected to be complete by 25/05/2022. Operations will be focussed around the berth boxes for both No. 8 & 10 jetty and will be carried out by the water injection dredger ‘Mersey’. ‘Mersey’ will display the required signals for respective operations by day and night, all vessels are requested to pass with caution and minimise their wash. 4. River Medway - Saltpan Reach - BP IOG. No1 Jetty - Dredging Operations - dredging operations are due to take place at BP Isle of Grain No.1 jetty, dredging will commence on or around 14/05/2022 and is expected to be complete by 31/05/2022. Operations will be focussed around the “berthing box” and will be carried out by the water injection dredger ‘Mersey’. See the usual page for the chartlet.
5. River Medway – Chatham Dock - Temporary Suspension of Service - Updated 3.5.22 - expected timescales for the completion of repair work has altered, please see below. following a recent vessel allision that led to significant damage, Chatham docks will be closed to navigation and unable to accept any vessel movements for a period of approximately 16 weeks commencing 24th March 2022 in order to complete required repairs. North Lock As a consequence of a vessel allision, the North Lock will be closed indefinitely to undergo necessary repairs. Further updates on timescales and completion dates will be issued in due course. South Lock - The South Lock inner & outer motors are currently being replaced as part of an ongoing refurbishment programme. The work is expected to be completed in approximately 16 weeks with commissioning currently planned for calendar week 29. Updates on the status of locks will be promulgated via an amendment to this notice.
6. Ipswich - Lock Closure - due to the Twilight 5K Run, the lock to the enclosed dock will be closed on Saturday 14 May 2022 between 1330 and 1830 for all traffic. It is not anticipated that the lock will be able to operate earlier than 1830.
Leisure users are asked to use the waiting pontoon in the river or to remain on their berth in the marina. For more information contact Orwell Navigation Services on VHF Ch 68.
7. Dredging in Port of Ipswich and River Orwell - dredging operations will be taking place in the Port of Ipswich and River Orwell Saturday 7 May April – Friday 13 May by UKD Sealion (plough dredger). All Mariners are advised to keep clear and pass these vessels at slow speed. UKD Sealion will maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 68.
8. TRANSITS OF UNMANNED SURFACE VESSEL(USV) X-11 - Operations of a remotely piloted Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV) X-11, are planned off the Suffolk Coast in the Greater Gabbard Wind Farm area. Dates – Sunday 8th May 2022, duration of works approx. one week, subject to weather conditions. The USV will be mobilised from Royal Norfolk & Suffolk Yacht Club, Lowestoft where it will transit to/from the area of operation. During the operation the USV will be performing a Survey/Inspection of 6 turbine positions in the Greater Gabbard wind farm is listed in the notice in the Local List on the above quoted page. A support vessel will escort the USV for transits in the Harbour and in the Approaches to the Port.
Although the vessel is unmanned, it is managed throughout the 24hour operation, piloted remotely using 360° cameras and other navigational aids. The USV sends real time images and situational awareness data over satellite to a team of operators keeping watch and controlling the vessel remotely 24/7. Safety Precautions: The USV is equipped with the following to make it conspicuous to other marine traffic; ▪ AIS. ▪ Navigation Lights & sound signal. ▪ Active radar reflector. ▪ Superstructure painted yellow. It is requested that other vessels remain clear, so far as is practicable, during transits & survey operations.
9. Approaches to King’s Lynn - Amendment to Buoyage - due to changes in the profile of the approach channel to King’s Lynn, the following amendments to buoyage will be carried out on or about 9th May 2022: No.13 light buoy to be moved approx 460 metres x 213° to 52° 52’.055N 000°21’.650E Works will be carried out by the work boat “St Edmund”. All passing craft are requested to pass at minimum speed whilst the “St Edmund” is conducting buoying operations.
