6. Rivers Orwell and Stour - Temporary Deployment of Scientific Equipment – Update 1 - scientific equipment marked by lit yellow special mark buoys has been temporarily deployed in the following locations (previous illustrated):
BM ADCP2a 51° 57.172’ N 001° 10.992’ E Fl (5) Y 20s
BM ADCP3a 51° 57.007’ N 001° 18.003’ E Fl (2) Y 6s
BM ADCP4 51° 54.542’ N 001° 19.367’ E Fl (5) Y 20s
The equipment / buoys are expected to remain in position for around 30 days, until approximately 26 - 27 February 2026. A further Notice to Mariners will be issued when the equipment and marker buoys are recovered.
7. Queenborough Harbour - Sunken Yacht – Hazard to Navigation - the sunken vessel has now been recovered.
8. Sheerness Harbour - No. 5 Berth Dredging and Diving Operations - are due to commence 6th February 2026 with completion expected within 5 days. Works will take place on a 24/7 basis with diving by day to remove seabed anomalies followed by dredging operations at night. The crane barge GPS Boxer, accompanied by a GPS tug will be on site for the duration of the operation maintaining a listening watch on VHF Channel 74 at all times and displaying signals for respective operations by day and night. Diving operations will be conducted from the GPS Boxer with diver access via a fixed ladder
from the barge. A hopper barge and towage asset will also be used throughout the project to remove dredged spoil, movements of the tug and barge will be coordinated with Medway VTS on VHF Channel 74. All vessels manoeuvring in or transiting Sheerness harbour are required to navigate with
extreme caution, reducing speed and wash accordingly. Vessels arriving and departing Sheerness No.4/7 berth should check the status of diving operations before manoeuvring. Further information may be obtained from Medway VTS on VHF Channel 74, call sign “Medway VTS” or telephone 0151 949 6148 or 0151 949 6650 (Recorded Lines).
9. Great Yarmouth - River Port – New Obstruction Identified - the most recent surveys of the Great Yarmouth River Port have identified an obstruction in position 52°36’.0581N 001°43.5561 which is within the navigable channel adjacent to berth 28, approximately 30 metres off the quay wall. The obstruction protrudes around 1.4m above the surrounding riverbed, giving a shoalest depth of 4.8m at Chart Datum. Mariners are advised to consider this information when passage planning. Latest charts can be found at Marine Information | Great Yarmouth | Peel Ports. Please contact the Great Yarmouth Harbour Office with any questions;
10. Sizewell Harbour - Survey Operations - are planned to take place on or around 7th February 2026 and take approximately 5 days to complete, weather permitting. The survey operations will be carried out from a vessel Predator and will involve the use of a multibeam echo sounder (no equipment will be towed). Other vessels should maintain an appropriate and safe distance when passing the vessel whilst they are undertaking survey operations and should pass at the lowest speed to avoid vessel wash effects. All vessels should comply with the Colregs at all times. The survey vessel will maintain a continuous listening watch on VHF Channel 12 & 16. The survey area will be contained within SZC Marine Construction Zone as per the coordinates:
52° 12.9171′ N 001° 37.4473′ E
52° 13.4574′ N 001° 37.5149′ E

11. Sizewell Harbour - Construction of Marine Bulk Import Facility (MBIF) - works to construct the MBIF are scheduled to commence within the Sizewell C harbour on or around 9th February 2026 and will continue for approximately 6 months. The MBIF is being built in Sizewell C harbour to accommodate deliveries by sea during Sizewell C construction phase. The works will comprise the construction of an approach trestle connecting the jetty head and vessel berth with the terrestrial main build area. The seaward facing jetty head will consist of a loading/discharge platform onto which vessels will deliver the aggregate. The construction area will be contained within SZC Marine Construction Zone as per the coordinates below and is demarcated with twoyellow special marks Fl Y 5s.

52° 12.9263′ N 001° 38.2270′ E
A significant number of construction vessels comprising JUBs, CTVs, dredgers, tugs, flat top barges, multicats and other support vessels will be engaged on this project. All activities will take place within the newly established Marine Construction Zone (MCZ), apart from those vessels transiting between the works and the floating swing mooring situated at the northern end of the harbour. Mariners are requested to exercise additional vigilance and maintain an effective lookout when transiting the harbour during this period of raised marine activity. All vessels engaged in this operation will abide by and display shapes and lights required by the COLREGS. Vessels will monitor VHF Channels 12 & 16.
