3 Medway notices:
1. River Medway - Saltpan Reach - BP IOG. No1 Jetty - Dredging Operations - dredging operations are due to take place at BP Isle of Grain No.1 jetty, dredging will commence on or around 04/01/2023 and is expected to be complete on 19/01/2023. Operations will be focussed around the “berthing box” and will be carried out by the water injection dredger ‘Aquadelta’ who will maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 74 at all times. ‘Aquadelta’ will display the required signals for respective operations by day and night, all vessels are requested to pass with caution, minimise their wash and monitor VHF Ch.74 at all times. There is a chartlet that can be seen on the Local List on Notices to Mariners. But should be well out of our way.
2. Update Notice - River Medway – Chatham Dock - Temporary Suspension of Service - work to repair Chatham North Lock, after the allision in March 2022, has been completed and final testing is currently underway. The current suspension of vessel traffic movements into and out of Chatham Dock is due to be lifted on 3rd January 2023. A hydrographic survey of the lock approaches will be carried out on 22nd December 2022, new limiting depths will be shared with all relevant stakeholders as soon as the survey data has been assessed.
South Lock - Chatham South Lock remains inoperative with further work required, the completion and re-opening date for South Lock is not known at this stage.
3. THE SWALE – KINGSFERRY BRIDGE - Period of Restricted Operation - due to planned industrial action by the rail Union RMT there will be disruption to the operating periods for Kingsferry Bridge. The strikes are planned for 24th – 27th December 2022 and 3rd – 8th January 2023. Network Rail have implemented contingency plans which will cover part of the disruption, please see below for the temporary bridge operational timetable:
