How many coats of varnish should I put on my spars. This boom had ten coats last year and four this year. Is that enough yet?

I saw a Vashti Class with carbon sails how does that figure then.

In fact it was The Vashti owned by an East Coaster, he said she was "State of the Art" when built so why not have state of the art sails now

I was only being provocative. TG has a tin mast and wooden boom. No, I don't know why either, apparently they did in the 60's. The boom hurts if it hits you on the head (ask me how I know!).

Any, so 14 coats of varnish is enough?

14 coats is enough as a primer for a fine finish with Epifanes
