I stopped visiting the forums last year to avoid the opinionated drivel penned by many who don't see their lack of knowledge on any given subject as sufficient reason to spare those who do know what they are talking about from having to endure the ignorant ramblings of those who don’t. I returned tonight to see if things have improved but as evidenced by this thread - http://www.ybw.com/forums/showthread.php?t=245082 - sadly it would appear not. Bye bye.
p.s Can't access the lounge so if someone could cross reference that would be good.

Whats this got to do

With the Thames?

If you cant access the lounge then how did you come across this thread as it was in the lounge?

The Lounge is designed for people to let of steam, talk nonsense and generally keep the good stuff to the boating parts of the forum?

I have never driven off after being stopped by the police until everything has been politely sorted out and I have been wished a safe journey.

Why should anybody have the right to do otherwise.

I fail to see Dimbo's point!?

So where did this happen, was it at one of the Thames locks what sort of boat was he driving, did he have a BSC,were his fenders up or down, did he enter navigation on a Gold licence,is he or has he ever been a member of a narrowboat forum ...we really need to know before commenting !
Hav I got hold of the wrong end of the boathook ?

To OP
I know I'm new here but one thing seems staggeringly obvious:
The pensioner got a kicking in Wales and the title of this forum is T H A M E S (which if my memory serves is latin for "nowhere near Wales")...................can you see where I'm going with this ?

I'm beginning to like this guy :D

Apollo,
I try whenever possible not to stand on fenders - I always fall off :p

But on a sensible note fenders up or down depends on if the mrs is in the middle of a good book or not.

Yeah, the mrs is normally involved in the answer somewhere.....

Anyway, back on topic.

Last month, a Dog was locked in a car in a Scottish car park, and had to endure intense heat for over an hour before Police broke the window.

Now what I want to know, is what you Thames boaters are going to say.

That's a Scottish car park, nothing to do with Wales, so don't have a go at me...

I saw a bloke with a Dog once, strange looking thing it was, so I asked him what it was.

'Whippet' he said.

I told him the poor little bastid already looked half starved, so settled for kicking it up the a2se....

Did Mummies ickle soldier cry or was he a brave boy ?

Certainly not...wrote a stiffly worded lettter to the Daily Mail in green ink demanding that SOMETHINGSHOULDBEDONE and that national service should be reinstated immediately along with the birch and can we please have all our suits with arrows on back from our .......antipodean friends .:)
