Not one, but now two boat shows in southampton

The MDL / Hamble dealer consortium that created the South Coast boat show re-scheduled it to when SIBS would otherwise have been held (having deferred form earlier in the year due to coding). Subsequently, SIBS seem to have decided they will now hold a show (on the same dates) at Mayflower park. Presumably they got nervous that their show would become irrelevant, or worse redundant, if the S Coast show proves a hit.

Will be interesting to see which wins out. My guess would be that the dealers will favour the South Coast show format (more serious buyers and probably lower cost) and that SIBS will (if it survives) become more of a chandlery show.

I rarely look at the new boats, chandlery at SIBS is far more interesting to me. I have several times made the mistake of visiting the used boat shows run at the same time and have gone home with a second boat.
