The broker that I put the offer in for the catamaran called today to say that he had received another offer of asking price. I said, with heart in mouth, that he should advice the seller to take that offer and then call me when it's gone tits up.

So it's back to walking the pontoons again for a while at least.

Exactly my thoughts. Plus quite a few expensive bits of kit are now not included in the inventory eg the 4.2m RIB & 15hp O/B, the spinnaker, the dive compressor, the storm jib, the 2nd genoa bla bla bla. I think it is prudent to continue looking.

Went cold on two things that I think are design issues:
- to get forward, even in calm weather is not easy because of the narrow decks
- the winch positions left me feeling vulnerable when grinding, even in very calm conditions.

I spoke to the designer about the narrow deck issue and his answer was "Who the feck goes forward in nasty weather anyway". Nuff said?

Best response. If they were bluffing they've just shit on their own doorstep.
If they do come back that gives you power. Get back all the goodies or reduce the offer.

tcm walked and still ended up with the chosen boat.

It ain't gone yet and if they do come back to the table you can modify your offer.

Serious buyers aren't that common as anyone trying to sell a boat can testify. It took me a little over 6 months to strike a deal - I am convinced the right mentality is to have choice - a short list in effect - then you don't get emotionally attached to the boat before you own it!!
