Not having the Volvo extended warranty - is it a risk?

We are coming up on our first year and I recall we were quoted approx £300 per engine by Volvo service. £2000 sounds way too high. I will call them tomorrow and let you know what they quoted.

Your information is consistent with what the first service on my d6-435's in my p42 actually cost; however, I think pej is on outdrives and so I'm guessing his service cost is the full monty - engines and drives. £2k does still sound strong though, although perhaps not wildly far of the mark.

Slight correction to my OP. I have now paid £2,200 incl VAT for engine AND outdrive service from the Volvo authorised dealer. Strictly speaking it is a second service, the first service being done before hand over. They tell me this one involves more work than the first one.

After reading the replies on here and checking the sums again a decided to play safe and go with the Volvo dealer.
