Just wanted to make absolutely, completely and utterly sure.....that Mr CPD follows through on his promise.....

you see......Thursday night....

He agreed to run the Great Eastern run (half marathon) with me..... as long as I did the Great Northern Run (another half marathon) with him.....

Well.... i'm up for it.... and decided that a good old fashioned public statement declaring our intent might be the best way of keeping him out of the pub and training instead..... :)

So Alan.... whats the goal?

I'm aiming for a sub 2hrs given that its my first 1/2 marathon for 'ahem - lots' of years..... but really, just getting round without a coronary would do..... :)

Being the kind and generous type that I am, and feeling entirely confident in the ability of everyone, I will sponsor anyone from this forum that decides to enter the Great North and East run, to the tune of £50-00 each

That's very good of you I must say

Well, I warned about proselytising about the features on iPhone.

2 grown men have acquired yoof tech, and are now seeking some form of masochistic mid life crisis.

A previously gentle slide into middle age has now turned into 2 1/2 marathons with live data recording by a telephone. No good can come of it, I tell you.
No doubt we will be treated to a live feed by twitter or similar.

A telephone.

Whither the black bakelite bugle?

Whither the waspish but sexy sounding telephonist?

Whither indeed phones number with names in them? Mine, until 1993 was Canewdon 479. Still is, but buried under advanced technology.

I think I will insert my 2d and press button A, then off to the pub for a leisurely mild & bitter.

Tis true, confirmed and now publically stated.

Bugger. Why oh why.

Last time I did anything like this, well the GNR to be exact, in a seriousish manner, I did 2.18. Brother Paul did 2.03 this year which is just utter madness. I will be happy with anything sub 2.15, as a gentle plodder I always was, and believe me, nothing, especially given my current physical state, leads me to believe that the future will hold anything different.

Bearing in mind that there is plenty time to train, and no lack of accomodation in Newcastle, gratis, who else cares to take a step forward ........

In case anyone is wondering, no, Roger hasn't really sponsored everyone with loads of money, yet (teehee)

All things changing rapidly at Chez Sixpence these days, but if everything works out (which is looking good so far) I'll be there. Already pre-registered for entry, just posting the link for anyone daft enough to join in, but it looks like the ECF will be fielding a bit of a team on this one
