Hate to be a contrary old type git but did you see or hear stone.It really would take a big bugger to crack that glass.

Is it possible that your recent respray job involving work near windows,was source of problem and that all it required was hot day + expansion of glass/Steel perhaps glass nicked with grinder and .....pop ?

The culprit was definitely a stone and a piece of flint to boot !!! A pebble might not have caused so much damage. The point of impact is clear and the stone itself was lying on the deck below the window - pictures taken and available for the insurers.

We stopped at his workshop at Better Boating, Reading on our way upriver on Friday and he popped out the opposite window and took a template.

When we came back downriver yesterday he was ready with the new glass and it was fitted and we were on our way in under an hour.

Problem to problem solved in just 5 days - pretty impressive I reckon.
