Following on from the previous thread HERE! I thought I'd finish the story of our trip.

We were there on business, but boating seemed to be taking up most of the time(which was fine by me/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif).
We arrived at the Factory by boat, no pier or pontoon to get off, the skipper just nudges the bow of the boat agains't the rocks, where a representative from the factory was waiting to greet us.

Our supplier http://www.hjellegjerde.no/ make a modern range of Chairs and suites, we spent half the day there, where we had a seminar and then had a tour of the factory, before a very fancy lunch, then look at new products and the boat back!
The company have reduced their work force from over 170 staff to just 55, with an increase of productivity after the introduction of some new very expensive Robots.

Seen here passing a stool base from one robot to another!!

Here are some of their products.

The boat returning to pick us up, the view from the factory and showroom.

Back on the boat it was time to relax and enjoy the spectacular scenery on the run back.

It was then back into the hotel for a quick change then back out on another boat for a few hours fishing!! (Its a hard life, but someone has to do it!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif)
Our boat, an old wooden fishing ketch i think.

(He couldn't do that this week, he just had a vasectomy yesterday!!! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif )

My brother handing out the beer before we even left the quayside!

I heard so much of the great fishing out there, told that the cod is huge!! They had arranged for everything we caught to be cooked at a local restuarant for dinner that night.
So then it was time to start fishing!!

And finally time to return back to port!

This time the skipper put the bow to the pier for us to get of, not so much of a nudge but a bloddy great clout!! What a crack it made. Here the boat hand can been seen inspecting the damage! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Off the boat and straight into a bar, and then another bar, then of to the resturant, where i must report the Cod was delicious!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Got back to the hotel at 3am, completely knackered, up in the morning, pack and ready for return journey home. 3 Flights and 13hrs later I was home!

The trip was fantastic, I really do hope i get back there sometime, Next time it has to be with Kirsty and Callum, they can enjoy the town and scenery while i do the business part.
If you get the chance, go!! The boating there is wonderful.
I still have more scenic pictures, but i think I've posted far to many as it is.

Hope you enjoyed the pics and didn't get too bored.

Cheers

Al.

[/ QUOTE ] Not sure I agree about that, but I guess you have work to do! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

What a fabulous part of the world - and what amazingly clear air. Will have to go some time.

Great stuff Al

Been a long time since I've been there, and one of the parts of the world I enjoyed most.

You still haven't answered the queestion if you actually caught any fish! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Not too much at the moment, Just been finishing off a few odds and ends, and tidying my desk, as we're off to Lanzarote tomorrow morning!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

You should go, the Fjords are lovely.

Cheers

Al.

The scenery is just stunning, with everyone always looking south to the Continent and the Med', it really makes Norway even more of a boating paradise.

9 guys all fishing on a boat, for nearly 3hrs, and you have to ask if we caught any fish!!!!
/forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Err, No!!! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

The story we got told was 'Its currently breeding time, so nothing is feeding at the moment!' Don't know enough about fishing or Cod to know if thats true or not!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
But sounds good to me, that my excuse ok!! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Maybe next time.

Cheers

Al.

oooh, did I forget to mention that the one in the picture I posted was caught last week-end???? ..... not too far away from where you were .... /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

.... but I will admit that your excuse was plausable .. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Rod in the background and quite small boat .... unlikely to be with bait as that is very un-usual with rods in Norway ..... pulling your leg a bit ... sorry but could not resist it... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Think you enjoyed the "work" too much.... nice place isn't it?

Stunning place! Enjoyed it all, fantastic trip, even enjoyed the fishing although we didn't catch anything. The beer onboard was good! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Somehow i think the place i'll be in tomorrow(Lazarote) won't be as nice as Aalesund. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks again for all the info.

Cheers

Al.

Al, we love Lanarotte. I read somewhere you are going all in, but if you get a chance and in no particular order

Guinate bird park
Ceasar Manrique's house (look out for his sculptures on all the roundabouts)
Camel ride to the volcano
We usually stay in Playa Blanca in the South end not too rowdy but no backwater either.
Most of the island is black sand but makes fantastic sandcastles.

Best Regards to C and K

Enjoy
