If anyone wants to get some rigger boots I've found a UK outlet and link to the site here. They don't look great but we issue the fleece lined ones to all our crews and I can tell you they are totally waterproof and very warm.

When I came ashore I used them for winter sailing and they do a great job at a fraction of the price of the yottie ones.

Happy winter sailing!
Tom

PS Ask for the tan lined rigger boots price £27.50

They look good Tom. What are the non-slip qualities like?

The cheapest ones listed seem to be (3rd pair from left) £32, but there is no price for the 4th pair??

They were good in my experience. I used them on our previous boat which had a very slippery deck. The ones I've ordered aren't illustrated but the product code they gave me was 087 431 4S1P (that might refer to a size 9 so be careful).

Re: Cowboy Boots

Reminds me of someone who tried to get a pair of alligator shoes made in New Orleans. I mean as in a complete alligator per foot!

Re: Black soles and steel?

Can this be right? They have black soles and steel reinforcements?

I might accept warm boots with a limited life expectancy due to the steel but do the black soles mark a white GRP deck.

Re: Black soles and steel?

Yes that's correct but the steel is encapsulated and doesn't corrode, and the soles don't mark grp. My last pair lasted 10 years of heavy use without any problems.

...nor in bed either. Unless you like the "rodeo position": get a firm grip and then say "Hey just like your sister!" - then try to stay the course for 8 seconds...
