Northern Transatlantic Advice???

Hello all,

I am sailing a boat from Sweden to Greenland Nuuk via. Scotland and Iceland to reach the Northwest passage. I am in the process of trying to locate a good weather router who knows the area for the Sweden-Scotland-Iceland-Greenland bit. We have one for the NWP. Any suggestions?

You could try herb Hildenberg assuming you have SSB. Herb routes yachts around the Atlantic, his service is free. He may agree to route you from Sweden if you ask him nicely.

Go to http://www3.sympatico.ca/hehilgen/vax498.htm and drop him an email.

By the way don't ever argue with Herb or quote other weather forecasts. If you do he won't talk to you again.

I have heard of Herb....when I did my two atlantic crossing last year we used a french weather router.....got us from bermuda to the azores in record time. We left Bermuda with several other baost 50plus feet who were using herb. We communicated with them on SSB Herb had them zigzagging across the Atlantic and actually put them into worse weather. Despite leaving the same day and being 20plus feet larger they came in pretty battered days after. From then on they checked herbs reports against ours everyday. I am looking for maybe aomeone based in the UK.

They're an American outfit. I've not used them myself but have heard only good things.

I don't think they're that cheap though.
