BTW Tom.. I wouldn't have throught too many of the posters on the forum would have known what a belaying pin was used for....except for those who had served time on a tall ship/square rigger.

And what makes you think that some of us have not used a belaying pin in action? The whole watch working together, swigging up a halliard with the watch leader using a handy billy & catching the slack around the pin. Or knocking it out to release a sheet for the tack? Bin there, done that - and grand fun it is to drive a ship using only wind, canvas, poles, rope, brawn & brains. Hard work mind, but rewarding.

When is Kwacka due home?

Its a lot better when he replies to the comments, it will be fun when he reads this thread....:)

Tomorrow, if the dust settles.

I,m in a tinternet cafe
The punters are not very happy
When they saw the pics
They were scared that their drinks
May be scooped
And stuck in the bilge
Of this said sad cafe

The beer is warm
The uozo is weak
The punters do not look happy
The weather is nice
Oh! rollocks I just dropped me mice

1 minute to go
Then 'put in more doh'!
Don't think so thinks I

So tarra you lot
You aint worth the money
Although the thread is quite funny!!

I would like to add
That you are all twa

Arrr...ye olde sea dog Steve...:D
as have I sir, and got the burns/tenderisng on the hands from the manila rope as well ;)
The best part is laying in the net under the bow-sprit, face down, whilst running down wind with a pod of dolphins. A whole different world.......

Or throwing up from the yard arm when taking in sail in a rising wind, then shouting "Below" as a warning, just in time to catch the attention of the watch leader, who looks up with immaculate timing to catch a facefull of my vomit.:D:D

Oh, the joys of windjammer sailing!

A trick on the wheel on a starlit night is pretty good tho' you can feel the power thro that wheel & the fluxgate compass is just ignored (well mostly). The course comes from the wind & the stars.

Its very easy to imagine you at the wheel with the sou'wester hat and the oil skins Searush, just perfect for the role....:)

The old ships are great for sail training and crew bonding for our young folk, and very popular down this way.

Sowester & Oilies?!!!! This is not the roaring Forties you know! The weather really is far more civilised than the emigrant Pommies tell you. You get all our disaffected whingers over there.

You trot along over

Now-- Bar Bill is a kinda slippery fella

A bit rare
Like a Saskacthewan Mountin Climber

A rare beast

some say they have Military training (Major Catastrophe like) or it's born in em (Philiz like) so I warn

Just a warning

These types are bleedin every where

You will only be safe with Me;)

Yes I know I live in the boaters paradise, but we don't have a whiskey tour like you do. I have seen the promise land (in magainzines anyway) and they are in the Glens. Like Glenlivet.

Maybe hlb will even take me through the Swellies at low water so I can get a better appreciation of the rocks Kwackers has trimmed.

Blimey, didn't realise you were that impotent ;)

Now then, is that an insult or not, can't make my mind up :p

I hope you mean that I was that "important". Yes I am. It's been said that I'm a legend in my own mind.

Bernie

It's was aimed at Kwackers as he said it was 'his sceptered isle', but it was an intentional spelling mistake ;)
It goes without saying that you're important, you've got a Grand Banks!
