North wales beer n natter 2016

Just to let the North Wales crew know, I have accepted a berth at Caernarfon for next year. So it looks like I'll be a visiting boat for the beer and natter!

Good on yer mate... Viccy Doc?

I met up with another Conway crew last weekend checking out a new deal being offered by PD marina.

The Marina have taken over the operation of the outer trot of moorings by the Dock from Caernarfon Harbour Trust.

They are offering a very good deal for all tide Swinging mooring and winter lift out and store PLUS A WATER TAXI SERVICE..........

Personally I can recommend the moorings for that purpose but you wont get a good nights sleep on them in a strong southwesterly! No good if you are shore power dependent.

Well worth checking out the deal if you are fed up with bashing your way out of Conwy bay to get anywhere other than the river or finding Conwy expensive.

You might get fed up with the planned road works on The A55 at Penmaenmawr........

Shhh, don't ruin it for him now. He's already accepted. What's an additional hour or two extra delay on a summer's Friday afternoon holiday rush commute anyway? It's quicker by boat :encouragement:

Is Kwakers doing the water taxi?

I saw the article on the roadworks last night, can't wait, not. What does really appeal is not having to cross Conwy bay every time we go anywhere.

Yes I'm in Viccy Dock. I do rely on shore power too so a swinging mooring is not really an option. What surprised me most was the family were really up for the move to Caernarfon whereas I was initially unsure. Also, I will save a fortune which is always good. The big minus is no fuel so it's either Morrisons or Porth Daniel.

when I was there last year we found a tyre repair/garage place that did red diesel in Canaervon. Cant remember name or street/road name but its there because I called on them. Worth checking out.

Thanks Mike but I'm petrol fuelled. Morrisons will probably be the place, supermarket petrol is dropping daily at the moment. With Iran now allowed to sell oil and having enormous reserves, I guess it will carry on dropping.

Not sure but I think Dan is petrol powered which is only available waterside at Porth Daniel. Diesel only available at PD Lock waterside. Its a bit pricey but there is a red diesel pump just up the road close to Tesco
in Bangor. Tesco wont let you fill anything bigger than 5litres despite showing them the regs about purpose made remote fuel tanks.

Must type quicker............

Dan, how are you going to get that much fuel from Morrisons down to your boat? We're not talking 20 litres a time are we? And are you allowed to fuel up in the dock in that manner?

You haven't thought that the family are up for it as there are a lot more shops in Caernarfon

But not dropping into the marina! Better buy a bowser Dan:encouragement:

Saw Mark yesterday, they are fine with you fuelling up at the berth. He said most people just drive up, fill a few jerry cans and lug/trolley them to the boat. The only problem is that it is illegal to carry more than twenty litres in a car!
I'm sure the novelty will soon wear off and I'll be nipping up to porth Daniel with the tide and coming back with the tide on tick over. The tank is four hundred litres, I bet I've only filled it twice this year.

Anyway at full speed, a full tank will last almost four hours!!!

Just had a look at the prices. Very attractive and not a lot more than a Conwy river pontoon. I'm almost tempted, but I do spend a lot of time on the boat even when the weather is too foul to go out. I couldn't give up my views for Vicky dock, but that may change when I want a change of scenery. Don't be a stranger after you move.

:encouragement: Forgot about that, which reminds me Seastoke owes me a dinner too. I'll wait until the Mulberry reopens for that one and see what new delights they have to offer :D

Don't forget we have a Bowser currently located in Port Penrhyn Bangor but things might change

i hear bigwow is turning into a fuel barge trouble is its next to the pumps and cant move ,but he as asured me he is coming to the BnN by boat
