North Sea weather

Trip planned to Amsterdam for this W/E and on into the next 2 weeks but there are Northerly gales forecast for the North sea. Whilst they are due to end (possibly) by Thursday there is an awfully long fetch from the Arctic, down the West coast of Norway and into the North Sea.
Anyone care to hazard a guess as to how long the swell will last after the wind has abated?

The sea state down a lot after a tide across the North Sea in my experience.

Since it's only forecast to be breezy for about 24/36 hrs, would venture to say that seastate would be quite comfortable 24 hours later.
