North or South from Oxford?

Youngest son is celebrating 30+ birthday with friends chartering a couple of boats for 4 hours from Salter's at Folly Bridge this Saturday.
Doesn't know whether to head south or north. Wants to moor up at a good waterside pub along the way.

Suggestions, recommendations or advice very welcome. Merci.

Both get very busy if the sun is out though, and they may have to get a wriggle on depending how the locks are running
