Hoping to get down to France this June for a couple of weeks. Do I need to take a hosepipe or do most of the marinas have hose pipes attached to taps.
And if I need a pipe what fittings do I need?

Thanks

Instead of having one long hosepipe, which you may not need that often, you can do what I have done and cut it into two lengths and join them when neeeded with a connector like Vara showed.

There used to be some taps with larger than usual threaded outlets, I have three sizes of screw on adapters. I thought hoses were removed to avoid liability for bugs breeding in them when heated by the sun, not likely nowadays!

If you do happen upon a French Connection (:D) that won't fit your adaptor you can always take a run ashore to the local bricolage and buy one that will.

Combine the trip with a few beers and a delicious lunch and you'll know why so many of us love sailing to Brittany.

any recommended overnight anchorages, if so wot anchor :D

There are so many but a few I can think of offhand (not having chart, log, almanac here) are: one just west of St Malo (Hebianes?), rivers such as the Trieux and Jaudy, Port Blanc, Trégastel Plage, estuary of the river leading to Morlaix, L'Abervrac'h, L'Aber Benoit, off Perros, many places in the Rade de Brest, Morgat, etc etc.

Promise you won't tell anyone else but there's a book called 'Secret Anchorages of Brittany' by Peter Cumberlidge which lists more than you could use in a lifetime.

Anchor? :D I have no choice in the matter. The boat came with a 20lb CQR and all I have done was to relegate that to being the kedge, and buy a 35lb CQR with 65metres of chain. You need a lot of chain around St Malo, especially because the range exceed 12 metres.

i will have 60m chain + 50m warp spliced onto it

Try and get their during the week as if you want a tap or other fitting the Builders Merchants (like B&Q) close on Saturday Lunchtime and dont re-open until Monday.
