Some time in the not-so-distant future, I hope to take off and do a tour of the Med. Has anyone on the forum cruised the 'dark side' of the Med: Syria, Israel, Egypt, Libya, Tunisa, Algeria, Morocco and come back alive/afloat?

What was it like?

I worked in Libya bout 10 years ago, great country met some very nice people.
Huge marina not far from where our hotel was in Tripoli, full of very expensive large boats, all left when the various people & companies had bailed out. Condition was enough to make a keen boater cry. I remember a Royal 34 flybridge cruiser, various sailing boats around the 30-45 foot mark. Used to travel through Tunisia to and from Libya as the embargo meant no direct flights, umm not keen. Have heard bad things about Algeria.
