Norfolk Broads I hear you say, this is the Thames Forum!

Having spent some (enforced) time this year on the Broads (first time after 19 years!) and been really impressed at the dredging, banks, maintenance etc. carried out by the Broads Authority I wondered if anyone knew whether the Broads Authority are better funded than the EA for the Thames? We have been really impressed by the Broads maintenance and the availability of plentiful well maintained free Broads Authority moorings. The Thames appears a very poor relation in comparison. Remembering when the Thames was actually maintained is it just a question of now it is the Broads turn, or is there more to it?

The Broads Authority is a statutory body in its own right with similar status to a National Park

Unfortunately the Thames enjoys no such status and is managed as department within the EA which is itself a direct report within Defra.
