Went to SBA last weekend and although I had no intention or desire to change my boat I have fallen for The Nordship 38. I'm easily seduced at boatshows but normally regain my senses by the time I get home. However, this boat pushed all my buttons and my lady fell in love with it too, so its double trouble, the 40' is just that bit better but yet to take a test sail on either. Our medium/long term plans are to sell up and live-aboard, sailing wherever our fancy takes us for at least five years before moving back to dry land in Portugal. The quality of the build looks superb and I had a long chat with the designer who was on board, personally I find it difficult to find fault with the boat other than the sail drive which I feel is exposed compared to a prop...but even that can be changed if I choose, I thought it was a bargain at £350k. Anyone here have one of these boats, any info, practical comments or sound advice would be appreciated.

I had a chat with an owner of a 38 who had changed from a HR. He liked it - I think more so his wife did - but said it didn't sail as well as the HR. He was perhaps a bit grumpy because he was having trouble with his boom furling at the time.

Have you checked out the Sirius 40DS? Or the Vilm 117?
