Hi

Been looking about for smallish bilge pumps that are in line as opposed to submersed ones, I have come across a few which are pumps that can be used for bilge pumps but not sure on their robustness.

Its for my little boat and have found that these rule submersible ones go after one season without fail the metal spindle rusts or damages the cheap plastic fan and wonder whether an inline one i can postion away from the water itself may last longer- it bugs me how quickly they wear out/break and after this weekends episode want an alternative

Any leads?

many thanks

Kevin

Got one of these ... self priming and connected to a ball valve manifold that can draw water from any of the five compartments onboard... Great to use and efficient too when the exhaust hose decided to try to fill the engine compartment instead of disposing of the water in the designed fashion.
Only weak point is that I currently have this one connected to a float switch in stern section, which is knackered, so cannot leave "on" while away.

Got strainer fitted to all uptakes and a seperate filter strainer fitted just in front of pump itself. Cannot remember the make, or the capacity, but will check this week-end if you are interested.

We have a gulper on our sealine, not sure what model but it is not a huge one, it is no where near as fast as a submerged pump but seems to work well and empties every last little bit out! You need an inline filter though otherwise they seem to jam, easy to take to bits and fix though!

Have used a small attwood submersible w/integral switch for 2yrs+ on last boat & same model on previous open cockpit non-draining boat- no prob's at all with either.

Non-subs pump much less for the money/size, but you must be fed up with rule types by now.
