He's paid over $40m a year not to think like that.
He is also German and we all know that every German has something of a robot in them anyway.
On a serious note, he will have had hisw pit crew telling him exactly what was going on via radio.
As far as my experiences of bad injuries etc go (and I have unfortunately been around a few) it is usually best to stand back and let those who know what they are doing get on with their job without the interference of concerned/upset/hysterical friends or relatives.
He did admit at the end that he was v concerned until he heard that his brother was, and I quote "basically OK".
um, i wdn't for my brother, and probly wd've putttim in the wall a few laps earlier! Oops, erm, i mean how awful, and i spect michael schumacher wd've had some hankies ready for crying about his bro.
Anyway that 60's film about F1 (not the one with steve macqueen in) is quite clear that you should nail it when there's been a crash, cos that's when everyone else lifts off a teeny bit. Doesn't apply in these namby pamby days of safety cars. Much better to have a decent spectacle of car after car whamming into the smoke-sttrewn debris, michael mopping brother's brow, then his own car getting whammed as well, tyres and wreckage all over the place, hideous injuries, vast expense. I mean, bit borin these days innit when one car crucnhes and the whole thing is called off? sorry bout this..
Anyway, i think they should all have the same engines or same design engine, or the same crank and pistons as each other, or same power output, or summink to makem all go more nearlyish the same speed. I admit, this wd make there be more bunched up hence more crashes er oops i mean "the racing wd be more exciting"...
My question was intended seriously. As I wrote it though, I was also thinking that the one thing that Schumacher Snr needs (and this is true of several drivers) is a bit of charisma PR. Think how good he would have looked if he had stopped, and how the touchy feely headlines would have been splattered this morning.
If I suddenly shrank and became Bernie Ecclestone the second thing I'd do would be to lift all engine and tyre power/size restrictions, ban all electronics and find some way of defining a wing/downforce limit.

my opinion is complete rubbish, probably.
hm, i must say it wd indeed be all nice and weepy. God, i wd hate him even more then, though! He has singlehandedly wrecked the F1 spectacle by er being very very good at it. I wish he would bog off and run a ferrari dealership, leaving a goodly selection of fun-loving disposable drivers to crash and break down far more frequently, rather than folow schui's rubbish example of hardly ever crashing and almost never breaking down.
Yes, although I can never decide who I dislike more, Schumacher for the reasons you've given (and for chopping Barrichello yesterday) or Coulthard for persistently talking up his chances and always managing to find something to break/hit/follow.

my opinion is complete rubbish, probably.
well, if (following your drastic shrinking) you can sack both the above, they will not be missed. Also, Couthard has a weird-shaped face and a shite motorboat that seems to have been recentluy duluxed and keeps it in the cheap bit of antibes, apart from the being rubbish at driving. Ralf is also rubbish and far too serious, even for a german, so he's out as well. Also anyone ANYONE who says "for sure" all the bloody time in interviews- which inlcudes the schumachers and the Finnish miserguts wassisname, pleased he's gone as well.
Your post illustrates the need for a selection process that would include a bit of touchy-feely, PLUS distinctly more possibilities of pitlane punchups, as well as the aforementioned crashing and hospitalisation. A bit more of the barry sheenes, plus the other nutters of that ilk.
I must say that you should already be running the fia having sorted it out so swiftly. Also, I promise i won't laugh at you when you are old and go out with women who are 6 feet tall that make you look even more like a midget.
Alright, while we're banning people for interview technique, anyone who thanks "the team".
You calling my hero a nutter? Oh. Recruit F1 drivers from m/cycle combo racers. Now they are an aggressive bunch. Once saw virtually the whole field in an on-track punch up at Snetterton. V V funny.
And the third thing I'd do would be to consult an Orthopaedic surgeon. Find out what it would cost to have legs shortened.

my opinion is complete rubbish, probably.
in the conversationally dull bulletheaded kraut's defence, he did spend most of his first two or three seasons with Ferrari going fairly slowly and breaking down with almost Lotus-like regularity.
as someone (pos. Lord Hesketh)once said,"The best way to make a small fortune in motor racing is to start with a large one."
cheers,
David

What we are dealin' with here is a complete lack of respect for the law....
Well i'm sorry, But Schui really did P#ss me off yesterday!!!!!!
There seems to be 1 rule for him, and one rule for the rest of them, Are the officials too frightened to investigate his driving???
Yesterday at the FIRST restart, when Schui as you put "Put the Chop on Barrichello". The rules state you cannot overtake until you have crossed the start/finish line. Schumacher crossed the start line 0.000s behind Barrachello, Now to me that is not behind its beside!!! I recorded the full race and re-watched it last night when i got home from being at the boat, And as it happens LIVE on telly, the first name to come up on screen as they crossed the line was Schui's, then NOTHING!! That to me says that he was the first to cross the line, and thus made an Illegal move, But no they say he crossed at EXACTLY the same time!!!!! And the commentry team say what a fantastic move, timed to a 'T', CRAP!!, He never managed it 2 years ago at the end of the race, so what makes them think he managed to plan it perfectly this time.
And another thing, Barrachello wasn't racing, If he was allowed to race Schui for real, any normal fully alert race driver would have seen Schui coming and lifted slighty just before crossing the line, thus making sure Schui jumped the start.
Phew, Rant over.
Prat!!

Unfortunately ITV here is v dodgy so I don't bother recording it. When I saw the replay I must admit I wasn't exactly certain what defined the line, but I thought I could see Schum ahead of Barrichello? Wasn't it the line of bricks?
But, yes fully agree. His whole F1 career has been somewhat odiferous. The chop I meant was his rather petulant move on Barrichello in the last third of the race.

my opinion is complete rubbish, probably.
Just watching the Australian Touring Car Championship race at Barbagallo Raceway, Perth. (Ch5) Plenty of touching at every corner, lots of people being knocked off, including the champ, lots of bunching and really exhilarating overtaking. One car nose touching car in front, then pulls out to overtake on bend.. Great stuff, and compulsive viewing, unlike F1 which I used to love.
Couldn't agree more, F1 used to be love of my life, didn't even bother watching this weekend, also have spent bl**dy silly money on 4 Grandstand seats and now wish I hadn't bothered, would like to send them back for a full refund with note to Bernie saying "Bored Sh**less, not coming". Some idiot swathed in Red would just buy em though so I'm going to go, just to Boo!!
Paul
ps. when was the last time Schuey M actually overtook anyone except Barridoasyourtold on the track in a racing incident??
