Non boaty rant - lost baggage and airlines you can\'t phone...

I flew into UK via Franfurt yesterday. One bag lost and Lufthansa admitted that a number of bags had not been put on the flight. Oh well, these things happen and they haven't actually lost it. Its a nuisance but they say if you can't wait we'll forward it to you. I am given a reference and sure enough in the hire car on the way home I get a text with another reference from some company - Baggage Express - who say that they have it and they will let me know when they will deliver.

Its now 24 hours and no sign of my bag. Not a great problem in itself, but I think I'll phone and check what is happening. My complaint is that the Baggage Express don't have a phone number. You can check online (or pay to check by text) but you can't speak to anyone. The online site just says its been collected, but no delivery time is fixed. No contact details....

To compound things, when I think I'll phone Lufhansa you can't phone them either. Try going online and finding a phone number for them. Its the same story. You can fax or e-mail, but you can't actually talk to someone.

I suppose that its convenient for them as it eliminates all possibilities of people phoning up and complaining.

Customer service is a joke....

Aaah yes, I had lost baggage when I was working at Daytona back in the early 90's. Left home wearing all my winter wear and arrived to find my baggage had all gone to Chicago and it would be with me the next day. First night I cut a dash in my chunky jumper, luckily there were spare uniforms around but evening wear was interesting (I think I got 50 dollars compo).Good for a couple of T shirts and some rather fetching shorts.
It actually arrived 3 days later.

This is happening more and more.

I was trying to contact a company a couple of weeks ago, but could I find a phone number? Not on your life ! E-mail, or "feedback" through their website seemed the only way.

Ah ! What about snail-mail. Find out the address, and go round and beat the cr*p . . . sorry, speak to a real live person. Address is a PO box number. But where is actual office?? Not a snowballs chance of finding it.

Make mental note to keep clear of said company if at all possible!

Rant over.

Can only wish you well !!

Through Expedia.com, I had booked a flight with Lufthansa in early December 2004.

Flight was LHR to Frankfurt and connecting at Frankfurt to Yemen. 3 days of meeting in Yemen (Sanaa & Aden) then return (same routing).

I turned up at LHR for the flight to Frankfurt to find out it was cancelled due to fog. Next departure was full meaning I wouldn't make the connection in Frankfurt and the next Yemen departure was the Sunday (2 days later). Lufthansa at LHR told me that I had to speak to Expedia.
Expedia later told me I had to speak to Lufthansa !!

Eventually Lufthansa said that they would refund the ticket but that it could take up to 3 months !! - i'm still waiting.........

Lufthansa is now off my choice of carriers

I got my Revenge,,,eventually!

I won't go into great details only that I once was flying Swissair from Delhi to Geneva and it was a total cock up by Swissair, SA plane broke down at Delhi complete with all the loaded baggage. We were transfered to another airline and flown to Germany, was then left to find our own way home from there. Bags still in Delhi for 3 days.
I finally contacted SA who said "sorry we're not responsible for your baggage, go ask the airline that flew you to Germany"
Eventually they sent me 2 free tickets to Geneva as compo, I tore them up and sent them back with a letter saying I would never use or recommend their airline again.

Revenge came when they went bust,,,,great news!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Right city... wrong airport

Many years ago when flying back to school in the UK from central africa, I had the mis-fortune of having to fly with UTA rather than good old BA. The fight was delayed due to broken equipment and a medical emergency, and when I did eventually get to Paris to get my connection to Heathrow, I had missed it. Still, good old UTA helped out and put me on the next plane to London. Gatwick. Fair enough. Bags still went to Heathrow though. Bugger. Got them back 2 days later, sent by taxi to Oxford.

Lufthansa ... Let Us F***k The Hostess As No Stewards About ...

not very helpful, i know, but worth a laugh?

Re: Sorry ... we\'re busy ...

Latest news.

192.com found me a number for Lufthansa. Dialled it and selected customer relations option. Customer relations gave me another number to find out about my bag. The woman then said that she had a quick hint before I phone the number she'd given me. "The line will say its busy and please leave a message. Ignore this, don't leave a message, just keep waiting and someone will answer!".

Did this and the woman who answered said she'd phone back. True to her word, she phoned back and I mysteriously got a text a few minutes later from Baggage Express saying that my bag is on its way this afternoon.

We await....

Re: Non boaty rant - lost baggage and airlines you can\'t phone...

My apologies I think I made a mistake in the name. The company that I was referring to is expressbaggage.com ( express baggage.com) and if you can find a phone number on that site I'd be interested to know where. (More accurately there is a phone number that is given but it is an 08 number which is a computer automated baggage checking service and does not link to a live operator in any selection.)
