Cantata - It was that Harold Cudmore bloke on Crusader...

I was sailing near Pye End, on starboard, sometime last year. Crusader had been sailing around for a while, then headed in my direction, then decided to use the buoy as a turn mark, and came straight toward me, on port, with a deck-sweeping foresail. I reached for the foghorn, but it gave a sound like an expiring bullfrog and, well, expired. I shouted at the top of my voice: a face appeared beneath the genoa, and she bore away, just missing me. I wasted a perfectly good chocolate digestive by throwing it at her helmsman, and I think I got it on her deck.

So, yes, it's possible she did hit that buoy!
