No tides in Jan & Feb

Whoopie, there aren't going to be any tides during January & February in Portsmouth, Cowes & Portland according to the new Dean & Reddyhoff 2003 yearbook (Haslar, East Cowes & Weymouth Marinas). The bad news is that the tides will return on the 1st of March and be with us until 31st December.

Can't be, I thought to myself. So I checked last years yearbook only to discover that in Jan & Feb of 2002 there weren't any tides in Portsmouth either.

and worth checking that they've got the dates right for BST start. I got caught out last year by BST a week early in one tide table (they shall remain nameless). We were afloat, turned the clocks on. It was Monday morning when I discovered the error...

Sorry mate, I am far too tight to buy an RYA diary - so tight that I squeak when I have a sh*t.

In my case I find that 90% of the time is if from the front, not the left and right.

mmm have to say I thought the up and down bit was waves... as for left and right how about round and round in whirly gig style with a weeee "turbulance" thrown in à la Corryvrecken (ps I'm sure I've spelt it wrong so please don't bother to point this fact out to me.. lol)
