No shore power - any advice?

Yes, I think so. From what the sparky said today - if the polarity lights are coming on, at the first breaker, and if its tripping when pressing test, then power is getting to it - buit something inside is going wrong if the then second breakers does not trip when pressing test - i.e its not making far enough to reach the second.

If he is right, then the problem seems to be with the first?

I dont have details for the previous owner, but could try the broker. or the builder of the boat.

But thus far - I think the issue is with this unit?

You may well be right with this, but just for completeness, have you tried resetting the red 16amp button on your Victron box? Its a thermal breaker for the AC supply according to the manual. Not sure how you are wired up, but is it possible that the victron box sits between to two breakers?

Sorry - missed a few replies there.

We had a spark visit the boat yesterday and although it took him a couple of hours, he traced the problem.

He started with the RCD breakers, took them both apart and ran some tests. He was a bit confused with where the problem lay.

Eventually he traced the problem back to the Victron inverter box.

The power supply connection running into the box had come lose - it was as simple as that!

So whoever thought the issue was with or connected to the inverter - you were very close!

Anyway - were up and running now and everything is back to normal. I can send my boat off to the broker next week knowing she is in good order for the next owner!

Thanks for all your comments

Simon, have you tried Allan Stafford at SOS Boat Services. He is local to Gloucester and on 07711 320522. Top bloke in my experience.

Thanks for this - I did call him and leave a message - but he did not get back to me.

Eventually I called RW Davis boat yard and they had a marine sparky, named Paul, who came over within the hour.

Really nice chap - if anyone gets stuck around the Glocestershire area, he is worth a call.

Thank you

I thought you'd just bought it?!

Fantastic that you are sorted. Most unlike Alan. Generally he returns calls in the evening, as he is very busy during the day. Anyway, great result and happy boating.

Haha - long story! We bought her in Dedemebr - she was lying in Norfolk - I didn't have time to go and see the boat. We had a full survey, which was very good - we had some work done to her carried out by Haines - it was delivered in February. As soon as I stepped on board I knew it was too small!!!

I'd mapped out the dimensions and thought it would be plenty big enough. But it's not. Absolutely not.

So we're sending her back to the broker to sell on. An expensive mistake!

My fault entirely - but having missed all of last season due to boating problems - I'm determined to have a great year - and so we will be buying something totally different.
