Thanks, Iºm anchored in Jacare so very close to Joao Pessoa.

[/ QUOTE ]When at anchor we light an insecticide coil, on an old baking tray, near the 'cockpit'. That creates a waft of pong downwind and seems to stop them all night.

I'm not in Brazil at the moment, otherwise I'd bring you some Germolene. You'll probably know the Bolero pretty well by now. The restaurants and bars are quite good at Jacare. Have you ventured over to Red Island, it's just across the otherside of the BR230. At low tide, the local trip boats set up a bar e.t.c on the island, tables, chairs the lot. You eat and drink while your feet are still in the water. Party atmosphere. If you need any local info, let me know

Germolene would sell well but you could make a killing if you turned up with a suitcase of sikaflex here! Nice spot even if it has been raining for ages, roads washed away etc. Do you know of anywhere to get 2 part epoxy paint in Joao Pessoa?

Cheers

Two part epoxy, that's a bit advanced for north east Brazil. Brian Stevens at Jacare marina/boat yard may be able to help you with that. There is a Carrefour and Bompreci (walmart) just across the motorway. Just down the road (BR230 towards Joao Pessoa) is a store called Projecta, they may be able to help. What sort of Sikaflex are you looking for, again Projecta stocks that kind of stuff. You'll need to take a taxi to get to these places, but taxis are usually quite cheap. It might be worth emailing the manufacturer and ask if they have any local stockists in the north east. I would think that Recife would be a better bet, if you're going that way.

Ta, Ill check out Projecta, see what they have. There´s a load of bits need done on the boat but I think what will happen is I´ll get anything the little workshops can do like machining and I´ve an old starter motor needs rewound, have things like that done here then go up to Trinidad for the more specific boaty type stuff and a liftout. Easier to write than to do, Jacare is so laid back days can drift by barely noticed.... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Down in Port St Louis where the mossies are signed up for NATO, the locals swear by a potent spray called Cinq et Cinq. Don;t apply in the cabin, you'll kill youirself and anyone else down there, but it certainly kept them away. Should be OK for No sees. Don't know about general availability.
