According to the tabloid press it is no longer "PC" for M.P.s to send cards refering to christmas and many schools have now dropped the nativity play we all enjoyed as kids ,as it could offend the "minority" population , reference to season greetings only folks. !!! Since these forums seem to becoming more "P C" these days ,several threads have been pulled recently because of remarks that could offend, please be more considerate to our "Minority " residents (and perhaps posters)

Have a happy christmas ( DOH!!! there I go again just offended loads of peeps)

Never mind !!

Has anyone asked this minority if they are offended. I was never a great fan personally of Ramadam or Buddah but cant say they ever offended me.

But for the sake of good will to all our bretheren. Happy Mohamidmas, Buddahmas and Christmas.../forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Terry,

It's a piece of bloody nonsense this Political Correctness about Christmas and certain other matters. Britain is a Christian country and by far the majority of citizens are Christian and celebrate Christmas. As Christians we do not condemn other faiths in the country but welcome the secular diversity that it gives. As a person of Norwegian origin I uphold and maintain and respect the laws and traditions of the Country that I live in and respect that of other Nations when I visit there.

Is it not about time the majority made their voices heard and others told that while their beliefs and traditions are welcome as are their views, they should not influence and detract from those of the majority but welcome the diversity they have and the freedom in some cases to practice their beliefs.

Last night in a telephone conversation with friends in Canada they informed me that this year they could not purchase cards which said Happy Christmas but said but could only get cards which said Happy Holidays. How sad can it get!

Have a Merry Christmas and a Very Happy New Year.

Jim.

and even if they could....

how many cards would have pictures of teddy bears, chrstmas trees, Santa, snowmen etc etc etc rather than religious themes.

Re: and even if they could....

I don't think it matters what is on the front of the card, even Hadyn's donkey would do (fine fellow I believe that he is). It's the sentiment of the Christmas season that matters and the celebration of it.

Jim.

Re: and even if they could....

surely if it doesn't matter, why so sad that cards no longer have the word Christmas on them?

As for Haydens donkey, I'm sure it would look good on a card at any time of year.

Hello Jim - good to hear some common sense.... or is that rare sense - 'cos it doesn't seem too common right now in this country :)

Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

You might find a carpenter if you are REALLY lucky.
