Took advantage of the benign conditions this morning and ventured out on my own for the very first time.....and LOVED it!! :D Now I know I can handle my boat solo, this has given me more confidence, though I think I'll still stick to windless days to make berthing easier!

Cheers, Allan

Well done. Glad you enjoyed it. There is 'something' about making a passage single handed. Time to just be.

It was a lovely morning Saturday and would of loved to have gone out for a blast. Sadly the family are not as keen on going boating as often as I would like.
Berthing for me is a definite down side especially without a bow thruster.
Also check your insurance as I saw somewhere in mine that I'm not covered for going solo.

Luckily my Nimbus has a bow thruster, as I'm not sure I would attempt solo berthing with my single engine set-up.

When I insured with GJW I made sure I was covered for solo use, so no problem on that front, but thanks for the reminder, Russ.

Good on you Alan, it is quite satisfying, but planning is a good idea, I always leave ropes permanently on and fender both sides when working solo, as you can be certain the marina will be guaranteed to ask you to berth 'the other side to' whichever side you put ropes and fenders on. Picking up a mooring buoy single handed can be a hoot.:)
