Hi all

I see a few people sailing with simple nav instruments overlaid into ipads. For example 59north.

We have B&G Network kit which is old, but nice.

Looking at a plotter looks like £2k for a decent screen size with some faf to fit.

A friend has fitted a vesper 800 AIS transponder that intergrates with Navionics via wifi.

This got me thinking about NMEA0183/2000 to wifi gizmos to display NMEA data like the B&G network (depth/speed/wind) and AIS targets on an ipad overlaid on a Navionics app.

Anyone got any recommendations / suggestions?

Forgot to add that navionics will only see the depth data (or ais if you have that) and not the wind etc. For that you will need opencpn dashboard or an app to display nmea data (we use nke display)

so, using other devices is it possible to get B&G network wind into an IOS Navionics app?

I am sure the only extra data navionics will display is depth and ais (in addition to position and location from the internal ipad gps).

As said if we want to view wind data then have to use the nke app or the dashboard function in opencpn.

I posted a thread touching on this a few weeks back if you are interested .... one component that does what you want is a Yacht Devices YDNR-02N

Diagram etc. here .....

Installed an NMEA2000 network and a WiFi Router on the boat last week.
