Morning all. I gave up last night but here goes.
THe old Garmin 152 gives this- 1624605038786.png
So I used pin 3 (blue) and pin2 (black) to send out the GPS position info.

On the shiny new CobraF57 I used - 1624605362225.png

I've assumed '-data in' (green) is the ground though there is a screen ground available too.
So Garmin blue to Cobra yellow and Garmin black to Cobra green. Cobra says 'no satellites'
Ideas please

Your wiring is correct. You will need to rummage through the Garmin menus and find the port settings, set port 1 to NMEA in/out, not Garmin proprietary. See page 93/94 in the manual.

two ideas, probably others more familiar with N0183 will follow:
a. make sure garmin doesn't have any menu on which you have to select what messages it sends out
b. get the cobra black (neg) wire together with the green (just in case)

Since this is active, can I post a question? I have a split new cobra F57b which failed to NMEA connect to a (cobra) plotter. now it just gives 5 beeps when powered on with a message to check plotter connection - regardless of whether the plotter is connected or not. The radio is unusable and had to be replaced as we were away cruising at the time ( Icom = brilliant) . Cobra "contact us" doesn't respond. Does anyone know the button hold/power on sequence to perform a factory reset?
please please please!
